Our sponsors were: Miss Moss, Miss Burton, Mr. Hall, and Miss Murphy, although during the year Miss Murphy and Miss Burton left us for other jobs and Mr. Hall entered the service. Mrs. Dunnaway and Miss Anderson were our two new sponsors. They were all very patient with us and soon we had become accustomed to our new sur- roundings. We elected the following as our officers: Martha Hankins, president, Lois Grime, vice-president, Helon Gill, secre- tary, Ann Goodall, treasurer, and Martha Clemmons was elected Most Beautiful Girl. WVith the knowledge and experience of the preceding year to aid us we entered Lebanon High as sophomores. We were still underclassmen but we felt greatly superior to the freshmen and it gave us a lot of pleasure to show them around. We chose as our officers: Walter Ray Carr, presidentg Bob McCown, vice- president, Madelyn Martin, secretaryg Louise Smith, treasurer. Still giving us their assistance were still fortunate in having Mrs. Dunnaway as our sponsor, although we lost Mrs. Perkins, and Miss Moss, who had become Mrs. Safley. This year two of our members, Della Mae Jenkins and Louise Smith, won monetary prizes in a state essay contest. Then we were juniors, which meant that we had finally become upper classmen. We had a very successful year with Kenneth Patton as president, Thomas Haralson, vice-presidentg Martha Clemmons, secretary, and Madelyn Martin, treasurer. The high- light of the year was the Junior-Senior reception, which was just as wonderful as we had anticipated. We were still fortunate in having Mrs. Dunnaway as our sponsor, although we lost Mrs. Perkins and Mrs. Safley, who was replaced hy Mrs. Beard. ln the spring of our junior year Della Mae Jenkins, Louise Smith, and Jeanne Blades won monetary prizes in a state cotton essay contest. At last we reached the fourth marker in our high school edu- cation-that of Seniors. Our number has now decreased to seventy- five, with thirteen of the original number in service and others in defense work or working on the farm. We have very capable officers in Bob McCown as president, Bass Wright, vice-president, Eloise Gaston, secretary, and Dorothy Ray, treasurer. Our senior year, with its elections, class meetings, Chirstmas program, selec- tion of rings, and invitations and all the other activities of seniors, is one we will never forget. These years have been very valuable to us for preparing our- selves for the future and we are deeply grateful to our teachers for their deep understanding and useful assistance. MARTHA HANKINS
