John Agate (James Tritt) is a pleasant, rather serious young man who comes to the island to check out two very peculiar wrecks which have occurred within the past two years. He feels very sympathetic toward Rachael, whom he feels is badly mistreated by Monica. as each persons and his talents Monica Parks (Barbara Carter) is a tall, spare woman in her thirties. Years of doing a man’s work in the lighthouse have left their mark on her. Sponsors, Miss Virginia Fuller and Mrs. Janette Wagoner, and Prompters, Sandy Norris and Jean Jackson. THE RUNNING TIDE The forensic one-act play, “The Run- ning Tide” received superior rating at the district meet and was presented in the state meet at Charlottesville. Rachael Parks (Kathy Jessee) the younger sister of Monica, is a pale, helpless creature. She is in her early twenties, and has become paranoid by bemoaning the death of her lover. Amos Lamb (Jerry Taylor) is a small, untidy man in his late forties. He serves as handyman at the lighthouse. 28

I heard the call to conform The week ended with a tea for the teachers which they all seemed to enjoy. April 27 through May 1 was designated by the F.T.A. as Teacher Appreciation Week, during which F.T.A. members did menial chores for the faculty. The 1 Dare You Award was presented to Johnny Vencill and Deborah Crabtree for their outstanding participation in school and community. 30 The out-going S.C.A. President, Jeff Sword, inducted Jerry Taylor to fill the position. After a hard-fought campaign, the S.C.A. induction service marked the end of a successful year and the beginning of a new one.
