Every circumstance dc serving notice that may happen to the ship or within her cognizance is daily transcribed within the Log-Book: in short every condition, occurrence and transaction which comes under official notice. In a similar manner has this staff tried to record within the pages of this book a sufficiently detailed account of the past years. Herein is recorded the personnel, the activities of the clubs and the classes, and the accomplishments of teams in various contests. All of these things and others will recall to thc il - Ml! an minds of each the happy days spent in Lebanon High School. Each year an Athletic Association is organized in Senior High School. All students are eligible to membership. Officers for the association are elected by the student body once each semester. A program committee which is appoint- ed by the president has charge of all the pep assemblies that are held in the in- terest of athletics. It is through this organization that we are able to have an enthusiastic stu- dent body. With such school spirit as this organization arouses, Lebanon can- not help having a well supported team which means a victorious one. It is easily seen that the Athletic Association is of much value in the maintenance of an athletic program in our school. 'lfffl The activity period in the daily program of our Junior and Senior High Schools came as the result of a need for a definite time in which students could participate in extra curricular activities. In order that each student might have a part in these activities, various clubs were organized by the students with th: V faculty members as advisors. ' These clubs meet once each week on either Tuesday or Thursdays which are the regular days for meetings to be held. The programs and projects of the different clubs vary according to the nature of the club. For instance, the Travel Club is interested mostly in studying places of historical or scenic fame, while the Civic Pride Club is responsible for the beauty of the school and its surroundings with Civic Pride Day as its cli- maxing event. The activity period also has its social or recreational value. Since the group in each club is rather small there is a possibility for more personal social con- tacts than in the groups of the various classes. The clubs are allowed to have one party, picnic. or social meeting each quarter. On the remaining three days of the week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. assemblies of the entire student body are held. The Monday activity period is given over as a day on which each club must present a program. Thus mem- bers of the clubs learn how to appear before an audience. Every other Wednes- day is devoted to singing by the entire high school. On the remaining Wed- nesday a talk or devotional service is given by some minister of the town. The Pep Assemblies are held on Friday during the activity period. The result of the activity period is that the students of Lebanon High School are more highly developed socially, morally, and esthetically. Page Thirly-nine J' lil! Once every two weeks an election for best citizen is held. The idea of Best Citizen originated three years ago when the student council drew up a list of characteristics that each person in high school should possess to be a good citizen. These are some of the characteristics from the list: good character. loyal to school, courteous, choice of proper associates, punctual, a good loser, and pleasing personality.
