SENIOR CLASS HISTORY We entered high school the fall of '50 as green freshmen. Although we joined a few clubs and were thrilled to get to go to the mixers after the ball games for the first time, most of our time during our first two years was spent getting acquainted with the teachers and becoming accustomed to high school life, waiting for the day we would become the upper classmen. During our Junior year, the Candy-Coke Commit- tee worked hard at all the basketball games to make money for the big junior event of the year, the junior-Senior Prom. Since '53 was Coronation year we very appropriately had a Coronation Ball. Mina Edwards reigned as our queen upon a throne in Westminster Abbey with six attendants. Everyone spent a wonderful evening dancing to the music of the Butler Collegians. At last we were Seniors the fall of '53. We had elected for president of our class, George Morton, vice-president, Charles Butnerg and secretary-treas- urer, Anne Wiseheart. Mrs. Lila Bowman was our capable sponsor. Like every other Senior year, it was a sentimental year. We went to football games, basketball games, mixers, pep sessions, and convoca- tions for the last time as students of 1..H.S. To make our year even more outstanding, we elected a Junior Rotarian each month. We voted the last week of the month on a Senior boy, based on char- acter and scholarship, to attend a Rotary dinner. Five of our Senior boys were the first to have this honor. One of the big formal events of the year was our Senior Dinner Party at the Ulen Country Club, October 14. Our theme Harvest Daze, was carried out in the clever decorations and the entertainment. The Candelabrum Committee gave their very im- pressive, traditional ceremony which will always be remembered by the Seniors. All too soon our Senior year came to a close with our Hnal activities-Class Night, Baccalaureate, and Commencement. Now as graduates we are ready to face the future and to seek our goals. .4 .L
