AND OUR CITIZENS In the spring of 1948, two Junior girls and two Junior boys were chosen from the class of 1949, to represent Lebanon at the annual Hoosier Girls' State and Boys' State. They were chosen as delegates for being outstanding in citizen' ship, leadership, and interest in government. The purpose of Hoosier State is to further the understanding of state government by actual participation of all of the delegates in order that they may become better citizens of the future. Donald Wolgast and Herbert Rowland were sent to Boys' State by the Lebanon branch of the American Legion. Marcia Edwards, who was runnerfup to the most out' standing Girl Stater, was sent by the American Legion Auxiliary of Lebanon, and Erin Whitney was sent by the Lebanon chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority.
