SENIOR CLASS HISTGRY Now that we are sophisticated seniors we can all look back on our days as green underelassmen and live a life of ease- or so we used to think. In spite of our disillusionment we can still tell the story of how we came this lar, so that our goal, and diploma, are now in sight. 'Way back in '43, we started our high school careers by choosing as our leaders Ben Cragun lpresidenlj, Bill Sullixan fvicefpresidentj, and Virginia Akers fsecretaryftreasurerj. Qui' Freshman party was held in the DugfOut, or I-logan's Tavern. It was called 'iThe Chamber Music Society of Lower Basin Streetn' a brainstorm of one Alice Marshall who lia- been brainstorming much to our class's credit these past four years. Cragun again started us oil' on our ways of becoming future presidents and such during our Sophomore year. His cap able assisiants were Dick Richey, as his chief advisor, and Mary Kay Stahl, as bookkeeper and holder of the purse strings. That year our class party was built around the presidential elections, with The People's Choice7Paul W. Neuman beingi elected. Then we passed the dividing line between underclassmen and upperclassmen and became a member of the latter group Ben Cragun again led us through the year as president, with Dick Richey again chosen vicefpresident and Virginia Akers a- seeretaryftreasurer. The junior Carnival was the gala affair of the year, next to the Prom. Nylon hose were ratlled oflf to the lucky holders of winning tickets. Dee Reese was elected the most beautiful girl in L. H. S. Witlw the pennies and dimes earned from the Carnival, we held the -luniorfSenior Prom at the Armory on May 10. Ou' theme was 'Lln Old Acapulco. Virginia Akers reigned as queen and Cecilia DeMott, justine Wilcox, Mary Kay Stahl, De-' Reese, and Nancy Burchell followed as attendants. Now comes the dawn-we are Seniors. This year Dick Richey was chosen president, lim Slagle vicefpresident, and Mar Kay Stahl secretaryftrcasurer. Our hrst important activity was the Senior Dinner Party, held at the Methodist Church October IS. The theme for thi' dinner party was lvloon Daze and the decorations and program carried out the idea with appropriate splendor. Then the days began to llf by with a rapidi,y which astounded all of us. Bclore we knew it we had had our las informal gathering as Seniors on Class Night, Baccalaureate was over, and we were sadly, solemnly, but oh! so proudly narch ing down the aisle in our caps and gowns to receive our diplomas. Senior Council Seated: Dolores Reese, Ed Bramblett, Betty Graham, Kay Stahl, Dick senior Omcers and Sponsors Richey, jim Slagle, Carolyn Camp' Mr. Neeves, Cofsponsorg -lim Slagle, bell, jim French, 'Ioan Livingston, Vicefljresidentg Dick Richey, Presif Bob Sharpe, A I ' dentg Kay Stahl, Secretary: Miss Morris, Standing: Miss Morris, Bill Sullivan, Cwgponsor. Bud Winkler, Mr, Neeves.
