WILLIAM ROYSTON Baseball 3,4, Chu flidmq Thirteen of the forty-six students of the Class of 1960 have been classmates since kindergarten days. These thirteen are: Joel Berner, Joyce Brooks, Becky Engle, Betty French, Judy Krump, Dona Campe, John King, Sandra Monken, Richard Neal, Richard Ogden, Carol Rutherford, Judy Cotts, and Janet Widicus. In September of 1947 thirty-eight of us entered kindergarten. Mrs. Lillian Mendenhall taught us in two shifts--morning and afternoon. With Mrs. Leona Beck as our first grade teacher we gained eighteen pupils including Margaret Nunn and Jo Ann Johnson who stayed with us until the end of our Junior year. Our gains and losses this year jiggled themselves so that we numbered thirty-two. While the years were rushing by we were already in the second grade with Mrs. Florence Ditter- line and Miss Marjorie Dawes as teachers. Some joined us and some left for various reasons, but none of those who joined us this year remained to graduate with us. FIRST ROW, Left to Right: Sharon Wertz, CarlaBracy, ,To Ann Dillinger, Jerry Forman, David Betten, Joel Berner, .John Litteton, David Lonsih, Adrena Mohu, Earl I-lock, and Margaret Nunn. SECOND ROW: Becky Engle, Janet Widicus, Terry Burk, .Jack Sietz, .John Feltrop, Judy Cotts, Dixie Porter, Judy Krump, Ann Mueller, Betty F rench, Mrs. Mendenhall. THIRD ROW: Dick Ogden, Carol Rutherford, Sandy Monken, Ann Hohrein, Dona Campe, John King, Richard Neal, and Violet Giger. Because of our large class, fifty-two to be exact, we were again divided into two classes. Mrs. Beatrice Jones and Mrs. Dorothy Winterrowd piloted us through the third grade. Because of the opening of St. Joseph's Parochial School, six of our number failed to appear with us in the fourth grade. But others were onhand to make our number swellg among these were Phyllis Ozment who completed grade and high school with us. With a gain of four and a loss of several we presented ourselves to Mrs. ,To Ann Simpson and Mrs. Margaret See in the fifth grade. Not one of the pupils who joined us at this point graduated with us. In the sixth grade Vonzetta Fielding joined us as we joined Mrs. Virginnia Holten. As we entered the seventh grade we came face to face with our first male teacher, Mr. Lester Haury. Of the several who joined us only Ann Walker remained with us to the bitter end, When we graduated from the eighth grade there were twenty-nine of us, quite a drop from the thirty- eight who began kindergarten together. We have Mr. Rayburn Fox to thank for guiding us through the eighth grade and preparing us for high school. In the fall of 1956 fifty-four students entered as freshmen. Our gains were Robert Berkemaun, Claude and Gerome Berry, Forchia Cambell, Tom Clark, Lavon Combs, Rosemary F aitz, Allan F rerking, Earl Harpstrite, Earl l-lock, Richard Klein, Donald Koenig, Ronald Kombrink, Susan Lutz, Jerry Meyer, Robert Meyer, Sharon Myers, Phyllis Ruth, Beverly Schroer, Marvin Schulte. In the fall of 1956 fifty-four students entered Lebanon Community High School as freshmen. Dona Campe became freshman attendant to the queen. Dick Ogden, Rich Neal, Earl Harpstrite, Earl Hock, and William Royston played Junior Varsity basketball for Coach Irvil Rogers. During our Sophomore year Becky and Terry won the trophy for their pantomime in the Student Council Talent Show. Ann Walker was chosen sophomore attendant to the queen. Time was passing quickly, and soon we were Juniors. Dick Ogden, Rich Neal, and Earl Hock played varsity basketball. Judy Cotts was theJunior attendant at the Queen's Party. Ann Hohrein, Betty French, and Becky Engle won first place in the Student Council Talent Show. We presented a play, Keep It Under Your Hat, and we prepared for the prom. The summer vacationpassed quickly for most of us, and the big day was finally here. We were Seniors! Everyone started making plans to decorate the freshmen. We were mean during the day, but we made up for it that night with a party in their honor. Betty French was chosen editor of the Cedarian, and Mary Putt became editor of the Greyhound, Susan was crowned the all-school queen. We gave a Christmas party and a play. Rich Neal, Dick Ogden, Allan Frerking, andJoel Berner were our representatives on the Greyhounds, Our last year has beenagreat one, and we hope everyone enjoys their school days as much as we have. Teachers in high school besides Coach Rogers include Mr. Klube, Mr. Merideth, Mr. Adolphson, Mr, Daigh, Mr. Dake, Mr. Beggs, Mrs. Wicks, Mrs. Clayton, Mrs. Lientz, Mrs. Swigert, Mrs. Gutekunst, Mrs. Heck, Mr. Schanz, Mr. Stroud, Mr. Rigdon, Mrs. Neal, and Mr. Wright.
