It is a town set in the midst of prosperous farms. Through it run the main-line tracks of the Reading Railroad and the Cornwall Railroad. Through it also courses much-traveled U.S. highway 422. A motorist driving down this highway would have to pay at- tention to Lebanon on his way through. It is not just another town to slow down for, as you can see from the views we have selected. , 1' E, I as . 5-2.1-'ff ,.,w-Y., 2- ' - K N. N ' s-'i O g fl ., Thornbrook Farm Elysburg, Pennsylvania August 19, 1952 Dear Mom and Pop, We arrived at camp safely. Monsignor Weaver certainly has a beautiful farm. Everything is set up fine with a converted barn for a barracks. Everyone has e berth on a double bunk. The food is excellent with Monsignor acting as chef. His favorite meal is spaghetti. We're on a schedule. We get up at 7:50 A.M. and have breakfast. After breakfast we have a skull practice with Coach Sheehy giving us plays and details of football Coach Sheehy is the man in the center of the picture I am enclosing. Coach Palkovic is on his left and Coach Ben Wasilewski, on his right. All players must be dressed and on the practice field at 9:00 o'clock sharp. Then we sweat for 2? hours. After practice we shower and then everyone runs for a nice swinming pool. Naturally, a little nap fills in until dinner time. Haircuts are a specialty here at camp. Some of the new recruits really get weirdies --- they are really separa the men from the boys up here. At 2:00 o'clock we have a football meeting and by 3:00 we're back on the field for at least two more hours of practice. This football is strictly a man's game. It's tough but the associating with the other boys and the fun after it, make it well worth the time. The chow bell rings at 6:00. After supper we make our own fun. And we really do have fun. At 9:00 we gather around an outdoor grotto and pray the rosary. After a snack it's time to hit the hay - but if we're not too tired this is when the fun really begins. we initiate the newcomers. It's all clean mischief so don't worry, Mom Be seeing you in a couple more days. Your Football Star, kifilvcl -il' 'f,,n:!lg -ar A. 41: C . An aerial combination of Hesse to Brestovansky and ground gaining by Drahovsky and Bertoli proved to be the edge in a 12-0 victory for the Blue and VVhite. Beavers w i t h Hesse as ball- carrier buck Op- pOnent's line for necessary yard- age. LEBANON 20-PHILLIPSBURG 14 With New Jersey their destination, the Beavers met the Terriers of Phillipsburg in a fiercely contested game. Showing a reversal of last year's form, the Terriers were a constant threat in all quar- ters. Spirited by an air attack by Hesse, line bucking by Drahovsky and Minerick, and excellent blocking by Luciotti and Fox the way was paved for a 20-14 tally. LEBANON 32-SHENANDOAH O The Beavers Of LCHS proved their ability to reduce Atoms to nothing. Viewing a 32-0 score, Shenandoah fans as well as Lebanon, have to admit this feat. LEBANON 7-YORK CATHOLIC 7 This first league game saw the Sheehymen take on the Fighting Irish on a rain-soaked and fog-enshrouded field. The Beaver machine worked futilely until last quarter when it finally struck pav dirt. York fought back strenuously and scored on a long pass tieing up the game 7-7. Sparked by standout offensive and defensive strategy, the Beavers dominated the game from the opening whistle until the final gun. In addition to the ball carrying flashed by Drahovsky, Minerick and Bertoli and the passing of Hesse to Brestovansky, the Beavers also produced standouts along their forward wall with Patton, Fox, and Luciotti stopping the visiting line-plays repeatedly. After the confusion of league play, the Beavers rounded out their season with a 73-66 triumph over St. Edward's of Shamokin. All in all, the Beavers, Basketball team for 1952-53 came up with the second best record in the school's history, 17 wins-6 losses. In the years to come, your thoughts at one time or another will drift back to your school days at lebanon Catholic. You will be thankful in your heart for having had the privilege of a well-rounded Catholic education. After graduation day it's the individual who must make the decision as to whether he wants to strive to become a better Catholic and citizen, for there will be no faculty to counsel and direct his daily actions. There are numerous ways in which the Alumni of lebanon Catholic serve their church, school, and community. Surely one of them meets your taste! The Alumni is actively engaged in the work of the Holy Name Society, the Nocturnal Adoration Society, the Sodality, the National Council of Catholic Women, Knights of Columbus, Catholic War Veterans, lebanon Catholic Radio Forum, the Senior Baseball and Basketball league, and Scouting. Noteworthy are the achievements within the last few years of many Alumni of lebanon Catholic. Make your resolution now, at Commencement time, to put in practice all the principles the faculty of L.C.H.S. have striven to inculcate in you.
