Our school is the dream come true of Monsignor Adam Christ. It is a large brick edifice with class- rooms arranged around a spacious auditorium. Our library, labora- tories, classrooms supply the needs of a modern school. Mon- signor Lawley did much for the upkeep of the school and Mon- signor Weaver, who came to us in 1948, has in four years added such improvements as lunch room, principaI's and secretary's offices, movie machine, loud speaker, bioscope, wire-recorder and the latest-a Philco Television. Our trips to and from school take us through a variety of interests-industrial and suburban. We pass the stores of a busy shopping district and the factories that provide much of the country's material needs. Very abruptly we leave the com- mercial district and are in one of the most beautiful spots of the State-the outlying sections of Lebanon. We are influenced for the better by our contact with our school environment. Although we have no campus, we do have Assumption Field, where there are thirteen and one half acres we call our own. 5-,Q CQL EAMN MEMORIAL P4 FK LEBANON Th1S 1S o fyofpflvosyr S 'X MA PL E X- 7TH WARD K' .lf J' LMZEB ...if Emfg HSD QM Dll:11UU 1 TH WARD T. The Beavers and the Atoms fought through three scoreless periods with Lebanon threatening twice one time in the first period and again in the second. The first drive fiuled out on the Atoms twenty. A goal line fumble thwarted Lebanon's second drive. Fred Fox teamed up with Minnerick and Drahov- sky in a 9l yard touchdown drive which was cul- minated when Minnerick bucked across. Fox rushed over for the extra point. The Beavers quest for a fourth straight win READING CENTRAL The margin of an extra point gave the Beavers an upset victory over Reading Central Catholic on the Lawrenceville field. The score was 7-6. Lebanon drove 97 yards in the second period for their lone score, a short sweep by Joe Kimmel with Minnerick rushing across for the all important extra point. ln that drive Drahovsky and Minnerick did most of the ground gainingj a Hesse aerial to Arnold was good for 35 yards. The Cardinals scored in the third period and the attempt for the extra point failed when guard Ed Mossar broke through the line to block the kick. NORRISTOWN ended in failure when they lost to St Patrick s by a 9 6 score on the Bridgeport High School field The Beavers heavy favorites to defeat St Pats were slow in getting started and were set back l4 times by penalties which halted the local offense when it started to click Following a scoreless first half the hometeam hit paydrrt in the 3rd period when Cooley picked up a Beaver fumble ond raced 60 yards for o six pointer Powell added the extra point to make the score 7 0 Midway in the fourth period the Beavers got a drive started that covered 70 yards and ended with a short pass from Drahovky to Arnold scoring for Lebanon Drahovsky and Kimmel did most of the ground gaining for Lebanon while Fred Fox and Jonathan Arnold were standouts on defense The loss of Nick Fick and Dave Frtzgrbbons via the inlury route seriously hampered the local s offense He's oll Les Mitchell Chunky with the ball N 5 You Kimmel around end , . . , . . . , - 1 1 - . 1 1 .. , , Leg gf: . --at 'lin vial' I kc ' 9 A X Ngo --.' ' ' YORK With Charlie Minnerick scoring two touchdowns in the second half, a fighting Lebanon Catholic eleven came from behind to beat York Catholic l9-l3 in an exciting and well played contest in the Lebanon High Stadium. With the score tied at I3-l3 the Beavers gambled for a win. J. Arnold who handles the punting chores for the locals, faked a punt and tore around left end for 30 yards and a first down on the York thirty. A circus catch by Spider Fitzgibbons placed the ball inside the Irish twenty. Charlie Minnerick scored the final touchdown and suffered a sprained leg doing it. This ended the scoring for both teams. LANCASTER An outweighed and outplayed Lebanon eleven bowed to a strong Lancaster Catholic team on the Rossmere field in Lancaster. This was the first time in three years the Beavers failed to score. The big Crusader line completely stalled the local offense. While the Beavers were bottled up and unable to make any headway, the Crusaders navigated by Dick Fencil found smooth sailing, especially in the first half when three touchdowns were scored. Lebanon played its best ball in the third period when they held the Crusaders scoreless and limited them to two first downs. PHILLIPSBURG Choo-Choo Minnerick powered his way to two touchdowns as an injury-riddled Lebanon Catholic eleven scored a comparatively easy l2-0 win over the Terriers. Charlie's first six-pointer came in the second quarter following a Terrier fumble recov- ered by Fred Hesse. Two cracks at the line were all Minnerick needed. Coach Sheehy's proteges completely muzzled the Terriers, allowing them only one first down all night. A key play for the Beavers in the second peri- od drive was a fake punt by Arnold which was good for 23 yards. The triumph was the fifth in seven starts for the Beavers. MT. CARMEL The Beavers failed to show the form that marked early season wins, and suffered their worst defeat in history bowing to Mt. Carmel Catholic 34-6 at Mt. Carmel. Aside from the opening period when they scored their only touchdown the Beavers threatened only once. ln the third period with Minnerich carrying the ball on nearly every ploy, Lebanon penetrated to the Rams' 2l yard line where they bogged down. Six Catholic High Seniors closed their high school football careers including Dave Fitzgibbons and .lonathan Arnold the co-captains, and Cyril Deck, Nick Fick, Les Mitchell, and Nick Leno. POTTSVILLE With a pass interception setting up one score and a 65 yard run with a fumble scoring another, Lebanon Catholic won its sixth game of the season on the frozen turf of the Lebanon High Stadium. A sparse crowd of less than a thousand braved Cold weather and biting wind to see the Beavers continue their mastery over the Fighting Irish from the coal hills. The two teams have met three times with the Beavers coming out on the long end of the score each time. Cyril Deck scored the first touchdown on a tricky double reverse. That 6-0 edge held until the fourth quarter when Nick Stangarity scooped up a P. V. fumble and raced 65 yards for the score. The high- light of the game came late in the fourth quarter when the ever alert Les Mitchell picked off a pass and behind terrific blocking moved the ball 75 yards before he was hauled down from behind.
