From the Seventh Corps Area team, a team Of the seven best men was picked to fire in the match for the Hearst Trophy. NINFTEEN 'PWFNTY FWF -A The Orc hestra Since the organization of an orchestra in the Leavenworth High School the membership has increased until it now numbers twenty two There are six first violins JANE DARRAH IONE STUCKEY LAVENIA RECTOR GENEVIEVE OLSON CARL SILL and GARLAND DOWNUM five second violins FLORA BOUSMAN EDNA MONTGOMERY Miss MOORE RAYMOND HOEFENER and LUCIEN WATKINS, two clarmets CHANDLER KEY and RICHARD COLVIN five cornets CATHERINE MONROE JOSEPH MURAWSKI JOHN RAMEE MILO FERRY and WALTER KIHM one cello HELEN TROLLMAN piano LOLA HATTEN drums ROLAND COFFIN The orchestra under the leadership of Miss MINNIE TAYLOR has made marked improvement this year and has pleased its audience whenever It has appeared in public The orchestra furnished the music for the Senior Play and gave a delight ful program for the Junior Class Play Another time the Orchestra appeared in public was at one of the regular Friday assemblies The Orchestra played many pleasing pieces furnishing over half Of the program of the morning In addition to this the Orchestra made a big hit with the student body by playing at the last home basketball game They also led in the singing of the school songs The Orchestra has been very fortunate this year in securing the fifth period on Fridays for rehearsals. The band practices Monday evening after school, and im- mediately after school on Tuesdays the strings practice. Then, on Friday, rehearsal for both band and string sections is held during the last period.
