'NTI-IE I l The High School Hi-Liters is a broadcasting team of 20 members, made up of four pupils from each of the five local high schools. On Tuesday afternoon one representative from each of the schools assembles at W.B.R.Y. broadcasting studios where, under the direction of Mr. Howard, the various news items and stories are worked into a smoothly running program. Then, on Friday aftemoon, the entire cast meets to go on the air. They go through the script two or three times, timing it and correcting it, and then at 5:30 they are on the air. The representatives from Leavenworth are at the microphone - Marie Del Gatti, Barbara Bovino, Louis Petro Roy, and Millie Anzivine. At the extreme left is Mr. Howard, program director at W.B.R.Y., who has helped the group along and was very patient during some terribly trying times. Of course it wasnlt all work. Mr. Howard accompanied the Hi-Liters to New York City where they went to various television studios. They also went to Mr. Howard's home where they had a hot dog roast. Mmmm good!!!

THE BEAR CLUB The Bear Club, a newly fomied organization, was founded by a few Senior boys, as a Senior club. The membership which rapidly increased to about 70, was made up mostly of boys with the exception of a few girls. The purpose of the Bear Club was to help promote school activities. This pro- gram was accomplished with a good cheering section at our football and basketball games. Members of the club always helped to support our dances. Leavenworths' annual Valentine Dance was sponsored this year by the Bear Club and was one of the most successful dances in recent years. Proceeds from the dance are to be used for a class picnic. Mr. Iames C. Coleman, guidance counselor of L. H. S., helped to bring success to the club by tuming in an outstanding job as the club's faculty advisor. President .... .,.... . .. . ........,, . . ..
