RADIO CLUB During the first half of the school year, a series of weekly programs called Opinion Please was presented on station WBRY every Friday evening. On each of these broadcasts a group of students from each of the four high schools would discuss or debate the existing political and economic issues. Representatives from Leavenworth debated every four weeks, with Mr. Blanchard acting as moderator. These discussions proved to be valuable experiences for the participants, for, in presenting their points and narguments, their grammar and voices were to function faultlessly. Although each of these programs required long hours of preparation, all the members agree that it was a very pleasant experience. The debators from Leavenworth are: Elvira Tortorici Norman Dutil Dolores Migliaro Pat Mazzamaro Dorothy lmperato Robert Link Marie Cipriano Wilbur Molin Lucy Garro Thomas McLennan Carol Arnold Anthony Rosa

THE JUNIOR BED CROSS The Junior Red Cross carried on its peacetime program through the school year. This consisted principally of contributing our time and effort to Veterans hospitals. Utility bags, bed slippers, pajamas and lop ropes were made by the girls while the boys made ping pong paddles and cribbage boards. All these articles were sent to veterans hospitals in Connecticut. We also sent Gift Boxes to the children of Europe, One of our members attended a Junior Red Cross convention in Cleveland, Ohio, early in June. She returned embued with enthusiasm for a more comprehensive program for next year.
