FOREWORD The day which for years we have fervently awaited will soon have become a stern reality. For most people it will just mean another day which comes and passes. But for us, this day is to be a red-letter day, for we are to leave the school which has meant so much to us, never again to return as a part of the student body. For many of us'this final parting on this June evening will be a memorable one. Upon our graduation many of us will take our places in the world, and the rest of us will seek to enrich our education in some higher institution of learning. As we travel along on this unpredictable road of life, meeting our successes and failure with equal fortitude, we will sooner or later seek to recall our glorious and comparatively carefree high school days. To help in achieving this end is the main purpose of this book. lf, sometime in the near or distant future, we have the occasion to do so, we will pick up this book, thumb through the many pages of familiar faces, and proudly relive in our minds those wonderful memories of our high school career. Thus, Leavenworth, in bidding you Farewell , we, the Class of '47, leave to jjoin the ranks of your alumni who have made good in the world. May you always continue to reign as the school of schools . In conclusion we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Blanchard, who had general supervision of the class book, Miss Gemmil for her direction and advice in the art department, and Miss Hogan and Mr. Mack for their assistance in securing the write-ups. Through their splendid cooperation, we were able to successfully edit this book.
