6 7e0h Adm '41 RODNEY WILLIAM REDER Valedictorian As a fitting climax to four years of persistent, untiring effort, Rodney has rightfully earned the highest honor the school can give, that of valedictorian. Before this the Senior Class has honored him by electing him president of the Senior Class. Despite his high ratings, he is modest and unassuming, winning many friends. Highly ambitious, he is determined to further his education by entering college and judging from his performance here, we have no doubts as to his success. .,5r':- A I CQ 'Vi -TA f 2-,ge A il 4 4 -e 3 -J gr, 35 f QI E ' ffl 'A a . e s: mr, ig V Q K' -I 'J figr i.h..Il btrg ' A .fp L -:lg iff- N -Q-.. ti' 1 . cw CLAIRE EVELYN CAPALDO Salutatorian We congratulate Claire who has the honor of being salutatorian of our class. E THEME After a long hibernation, induced by a false sense of security, America has awakened to the fact that the world is not yet ready to live in peace, that the last war did not end all wars, and therefore something must be done and done quickly to insure freedom in the land of the free. ln this modern day courage alone will not win wars, this has been proved. The country with the best mechanized army generally wins, and one trained technician in the factory is worth a dozen soldiers in the field. The production line is our first line of defense. Leavenworth has an important part to play in national defense, therefore Leavenworth and National Defense is our theme. Founded in 1918, after the last war had shown the need for pre- vocational schools, Leavenworth has finally come into its own. Never, since the opening of our school, has there been a year so full of opportunities for graduates. Answering the call for partially trained labor, Tech students will find employment in the skilled trades, fulfilling their own ambitions and at the same time doing their bit in the Arensal of Democracy. Nor is the opportunity to serve our country confined to the boy graduates, large as their number is. Both in our hospitals and our homes, girl graduates of Leavenworth will make important cont1'i- butions to the welfare and stability of America. Leavenworth High is a small cog but an important one in the American defense scheme. ..14--
