A 7m Jaw 'Aff THE CONSOLIDATED ORCHESTRA AND BAND Seniors belonging to the Consolidated Orchestra and Band re- ceived their Certificates of Music, proclaiming them honorary mem- bers of the Orchestra for four consecutive years. Members who played in the school band for two years received their Leavenworth letters. Those Seniors who have a love for classical music will return next year to carry on the tradition of a High School Symphonic Orchestra. This year Lawrence Dowd was Leavenworth's first drum major in the school band. The Band presented its 16th annual concert on February 18th, and the Orchestra presented its 22nd annual concert on April 22nd, This year the Orchestra visited the Metropolitan Opera and heard the opera Carmen, an event which was looked forward to for a long time. The Seniors of Leavenworth wish to thank sincerely Mr. Floyd C. Evans for so successfully organizing a Band and Orchestra which has made every student of Leavenworth proud of its activities and its name. EN TH E VARSITY CLUB The Varsity Club was formed in the year of 1938. Its purpose was to bring together the boys who have played sports on the varsity teams of our school. It was also formed to let the boys get better acquainted to develop a more friendly understanding among them. Also it helped foster a more sportsman-like attitude toward the players of other schools which they played.
