Since then she has repeatedly given instruction in menu planning and large-quantity cooking at summer school. Also, Mrs. Merrell has written articles for several bee journals about the use of honey in cooking. Mrs. Merrell was valedictorian of her high school class in Utica, and at Cornell University she belonged to several honor societies and joined the Sigma Kappa sorority. Red is her favorite colorg driving- her weakness. And she is well equipped with a sense of dry, spontaneous humor. Despite an exceptionally successful career, Mrs. Merrell's deepest interest remains in her home and family, of whom she is justly proud. Her ability to plan and prepare the school day's lunch so expertly has won for her wide recognition. The students too realize that careful budgeting is involved and want her to know that those many days on which she provides something special do not go unno ticed. 3 We -sg, 2 . 9 it f r 5 L T L if . . - . . To our teachers and advisors we offer our thanks and appreciation for their co-operation and understanding, however strained both may have been. ' 2. To the underclassmen we bequeath the job of keeping up Leavenworth's standards and traditions. Good Luck and have fun! 3. To the school we leave 81,000 for the introduction and maintenance of escalators. L For the comfort of the less fortunate we seek softer seats in Mr Crouse's waiting room 5 We provide that all periods be shortened allowing room for a new one at the beginnlng of the school day to be used by students wishing to finish their nine hours sleep 6 For Harold Hall we request the removal of the cigarette ax 7 To Buzzy Furber we leave twelve Arabian slaves Qgirls, of course to tow his truck whenever it goes on one of its frequent sit-down strikes 8 To Mr Terry we leave a new Joke book 9 For the advancement of scientiflc research we bequeath Merle Loveless to the science department lO To Miss Carr we bequeath a fresh supply of patience so that she may more easily bear the quavering speeches of her budd1ng dramatists ll Lastly, to all class and Student Councll officers we leave two tons of Papa Piper's Peppy Puppy Food Hav1ng thus made our peace w1th the faculty, we are the Class of 1951 Carol's double ex osure ' -- li. 17 Luther Robinson and Jane Wadsworth t' . . .
