Rocks finish with 4-5-l season Elmer Adams Guar Even though this squad was hit hard by continuous lnlurles Gnd QVOdUGTlOF'l rt may definitely be classed as the 'Graniteyille Rocks Many new pla.ers made their ape peorance during the season With these young hopefuls, Grantteyllles football future seems bright After losing their first game to a strong Saluda team l3-O, the Rocks hitched their belts and played near per- fect football for the next flye weeks They beat Denmark lA-7 and Bates- burg-Leesvllle 26-lA in a game that saw the Rocks score four touchdowns in the last four minutes. The following week the Rock for- ward wall did a great job in holding Olympia to a 6-6 tieg it was during this streak that Granitevulle lost two fine ball players, a tackle and o halfback d Ken Akin Fullhack Falling to generate a sound offense and making several mistakes cn de- fense the Rocks tc-ok their worst defeat of the season at the hands of Carlisle 39-6. Showing many at the characteristics of c fine ball club the Racks bounced back to lead l. B C in every depart- ment but the score whsle taking a l2-6 loss Trayellng to Blackville the team lost a heartbreaker l9-l4 after having led in the ball game three times They closed out the season on home ground against Lexington where they played magnificent ball the second half scoring twenty paints but losing 35-20.
