15? H , Commander Grose reported aboard for duty as Com- manding Officer upon completion of a one-year tour as Executive Officer of the Military Sealift Command Office Vietnam. His previous sea duty includes eight years service with cruiser-destroyer forces, most recently, from July 1968 to December 1969, as Op- erations and Plans Officer on the Staff of Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Flotilla SIX. His Initial tour of sea duty from June 1954 to Novem- ber 1956 was aboard USS HELENA CA75 .in which he served in various gunnery and administrative bil- lets. From November 1956 to November 1958, Com- mander Grose served in USS JAMES E. KYES DD 787, principally as Engineer Officer. He served as Executive Officer, USS KENNETH D. BAILEY DDR 713, from January 1964 to December 1965. Other sea duty was performed as Operations Officer of USS COMSTOCK LSD 19. QOMMANDING QFFICER COMMANDER . H. GROSE Shore billets have been Assistant U. S. Naval Attache and Assistant Naval Attache for Air from November 1961 to November 1963 at Karachi, Pakistan, and Head Acoustics Division, Nava1'Scientific and Tech- nical Intelligence Center, Washington, D.C., from January 1966 to January 1968. He received his commission as Ensign, USN, in JUI16 1954 under the NROTC REGULAR Program UPOU graduation from the University of Missouri. His un- dergraduate degree was Bachelor of Journalism. He is also a 1961 graduate of the U.S. Naval Intelligence School and a 1968 graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College. Commander Grose was born 2 November 1932 at Ballston Spa, New York, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Grose, Jr. The officer is married to the former Pauline M. Briscoe, of Florham Park, New Jersey. They have one son, John, 7.
