SUCCESSFUL RADIO PERFORMANCE The Leaf River High School Academic Bowl team put in long hours of early morning practice in preparation for their matches. This year the team has been able to practice using light boards, thanks to Steve Harris, one of the team members, who built them. The first match this year was at Durand against the host school, Dakota and Winnebago in a round-robin competition. The team then traveled to Sterling to compete against Tampico in the WSDR Radio Station Academic Bowl contest which continued through January. The team was the fourth highest scoring team, thus receiving a bye until the semi-finals, against Rock Falls, who defeated Leaf River in a close contest. Team members included Dwight Turner, Jim Campbell, Paul Lindstrom, James Kump, Steve Harris, Dallas Turner, Jess Bull, Joe Bull, James Russell, Cathy Harris, Jon Kump, Dea Martin, and Scott Grabins. Advisors for the team are Colleen Alvey and Sheila Bolen. Academic Bowl 25
