CLASS OF 83 On May 27, 1983, 38 seniors graduated from Leaf River High School. The High School Band played the processional and recessional and a senior ensemble sang music, The Body Electric . Valedictorian Dennis Poggioli and Salutatorian Beth Newcomer addressed their fellow classmates and guests. School awards were given to the following students: Legion Awards to Lucy Lung and Dennis Poggioli; Outstanding Athlete Award to Dennis McKinley; Highland Junior College Award to Patti Cross; Grange Award to Sheri Blake; John Philip Sousa Music Award to Brad Gasmund; Outstanding Senior Musician to Patti Cross; Lions Award to Daren Poppen; Lions Scholarship to Dennis Poggioli; Memorial Scholarship to Dennis Poggioli; and LREA Awards to Lucy Lung, Charles Boomgarden and Dennis Poggioli. The High School Band including senior members also played a musical selection Declaration Overture . Diplomas were presented by board members Paul Lindstrom ana Wendell Poppen.
