On April 2, 1983 at 7:00 PM a special open house was given to honor our distinguished band director, Mr. Sidney Anderson, for his 25 years of teaching at Leaf River High School. Mr. Anderson was born and raised in rural Elizabeth, Illinois. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science and Music Education Degree. At the open house alumni, current students and public alike were there to honor Sid . An alumni band was formed and performed several songs. The Leaf River High School Band of 1982-83 also performed a small floor show, much to the surprise of Mr. A. ! Around 300 people attended and to round off the evening, Mr. Mrs. Anderson were presented with a dream- come-true — a free vacation to Hawaii a gift made possible through donations.
