The Demon girls had one primary goal as they entered the second season of track, to break as many of the records set during the 1st season as possible. With an entire team effort, the girls were extremely successful in reaching their goal. 11 out of 16 records were broken. The girls competed in 7 meets including Conference and District. Finishing 4th in the conference reflected improvement over last year's 5th place finish. The district medals were awarded to the following girls: Mindy Hammond placing 4th in the discus and 5th in the shot put; Chris Rutkoske, Lynn Hunsaker, Toni Leisson and Carolyn Myers placing 5th in the 440 yd. relay and Carolyn Myers placing 5th in the 110 yd. low hurdles. 22 Girls' Track

Highlighted by their double level conference championships, the 1979 track team ended its highly successful season with Wayne King's 14th place finish in the state meet long jump competition. The season saw 12 school records set and 22 school records broken. The season end saw 25 tracksters receiving 25 letter awards. Individual trophies were won by Bill Mayberry (Varsity Most Improved) and in a tie, Scott Boolman and Mike Newcomer (Frosh-Soph Most Improved Runner). High point trophies were taken by Dave Anderson in the Fr. Soph with 76 points and Wayne King in the Var- sity with 155. Coach Harmston commented that he was very proud of this group of young men who set their goals high and came through despite some setbacks such as poor weather and track conditions. We congratulate the Demon track teams on their successful year.
