Everyone enjoyed it. The story concerned Barry Hollis, a 21 year old gra- duate of Princeton who inherits an estate from his fa- ther. His reputation as a playboy must change and he decides to settle down. Chi the train he meets and falls in love with Gladys Vance and sends her a letter asking her to visit him. He also sends a letter to Patsie Linden a dancer, asking her to return his frat pin. However the two letters become mixed up and when both girls show up, Barry must find a way out of his predica- ment . Finally, of course, things work out for the best and the play concludes happily. 18 Junior Play asiuiOJj ‘qo„ The Leaf River Poms, 1977-1978 Again this year the Pom squad did an excellent job of performing during the football and basketball games and also marching with the band in many parades. The first presentation was made to the ele - mentary students and an evening performance was also given. Everyone had a good time presenting the two plays and both young and old seemed to enjoy them. One play was 11 Cinderella'1 the old favorite with a little twist, that of a dog as Cinderella's faithful com- panion. But the rest of the story was the same with Cinderella going to the ball and being the most beau- tiful there, winning the hand of the Prince who must track her down and fit the glass slipper on her foot. And of course, the Stepmother and stepsisters are pun- ished and Cinderella and the Prince lived happily ever after. 28 Musicals Theater Worm Sky Noname Cynthia Hercules Mushroom Howabout Man Nurse Mike Angelo Mr. Wizzer CAST Dave Zellers Diane Poggioli Pam Stocker Margaret Johnson Wayne King DeAnn Eike Bob Toannon Mary Lung Anne Oleson Mike McNamara Jack Potts The second production in the Children's theater was ' 'The Butterfly That Blushed''. It was about a poor butterfly who was bom ugly. The other, prettier but- terflies teased him and called him Worm and also played mean jokes on him like gluing his wings to- gether. Worm became very unhappy and decided that since no one liked him, he would not like anybody either. When not even the humans would catch him for a collection, Worm decided to lure the other butter- flies into their trap. Of course, Worm learns the true meaning of friendship and also learns about himself and what being beautiful really means and in the end proves to be not only a hero, but a very beautiful but- terfly indeed. The highlights were the successes of Kathy Motter and Karen Munhollon in the District meet with Karen taking first in the shot put and qualifying for the state meet. 32 Girls' Track Autographs Due to a mechanical error, pictures of Prom were not available. This year the Leaf River High School Future Homemakers was quite active. They had many pro- jects such as a bike-a-thon for raising money and of course the many delicious bake sales which the Leaf River students really enjoyed. Delicious! The girls also had their yearly initiation where all new members had to endure dressing up to certain specifications as dictated to them by the older members. The FHA also took an all day trip to New Glarus, Wisconsin where they visited fabric shops and also to House On The Rock which everyone seemed to enjoy. The last event for the year was their annual banquet at which new officers are sworn in in a candlelit ceremony. Chapter Mother this year was Mrs. Wells and the girls thank her for her effort and work. 58 F.H.A. Mixed Chorus Front Row L. to R.: V. Bryant, P. Johnson, M. Bomeman, L. Van Brocklin, B. Again this year the Leaf River High School Band did an outstanding job in their many activities. During the summer and fall they marched at parades in Oregon and Forreston, and received a 2nd place rating in marching competition at NIU. Then, during the con- cert season the band performed well at the Christmas and Spring concerts, and received a 1st place rating at contest. The highlight of the year was when the band toured central Florida during the last week of March. While in Florida, the band gave a concert at Sea World and gained national recognition as they marched down Mainstreet U.S.A. at Disney World in front of 80,000 people. 60 Concert Band Band Front Row L. to R.: L.
