Homecoming was another success this year. The week before the game was filled with contests from Dress-Up days to the Powder Puff football game, which the Varsity girls won 8 to 6. A pep rally and bonfire was held on the Friday night and the attendants were announced at that time. The game on Saturday was exciting with the Frosh- Soph winning 38 to 12 but the Varsity fell short with a 24-14 loss. That night Rick Roop and Sheila Barber were crowned King and Queen at the Dance.

The midseason points saw the Demons a holder of a 3-2 record, with three shut-outs and a 2nd place defen- sive ranking of all Northern Illinois high schools. A series of mishaps weakened the ball club to its disappoint- ing finish. Post season honors were not withheld, however. All-Conference status went to Rick Roop and Bill Toannon. Steve Cornelius and Rick Roop were chosen to the Coach 0 Athlete Outstanding Senior Football Team. Rick Roop was also chosen to the Rockford Morning Star All Area team. Most valuable lineman and back were Bill Toannon and Rick Roop, while most improved player was Bob Heinze. 8 Varsity Football
