The theme for the dance was A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes. The room was decorated with pink and white hearts and streamers. There were several wishing wells for those who believed in using them, and there was a huge covered fountain which was a work of art in itself. Punch and cake were served at the refreshment counter, which seemed to be a popular spot. Music for the dance was provided by Jeff and the Forgotten Souls a semi- rock band from Ashton, Illinois. For the second year this mod sound in music proved to make the dance a success. Both fast and slow music were played and even some brave teachers dared to venture out on the floor for a fast dance. At 11:30 the music ceased and everyone returned home after an evening well spent with many memories not soon to be forgotten.

River Six Entertainment for the evening was provided by The River Six, a group of Junior girls, who captured everyone's attention with such numbers as Cherish and Bridge Over Troubled Water. This also was an opportunity for everyone to pass their Memory Books around the table for autographs. Everything had gone just as planned thus far and so Bill Hartje invited everyone back to the Bertolet Building in Leaf River for the Prom dance.

On Saturday morning May 1st at 8:00, two Charter buses pulled up in front of the school and 75 eager students and teachers boarded them for a day of fun, interest, and knowledge for all. First stop was at the Milwaukee Zoo for four hours of sight-seeing ani- mals of all sizes from all continents and environments. Especially en- joyed were the penguins, apes, and small mammals cages. After a while everyones legs got tired, but tour rides were available. Also everyone took time for a lunch or snack before boarding the buses once more. This stop was the museum in downtown Milwaukee. It was filled with Indian artifacts, telling the history of Wisconsin and it proved to be very informational. Next stop was the Mitchell Park Observatory, which was three huge dome-shaped greenhouses filled with tropical, semi-tropical, and desert flora. This didn't take long and everyone was getting hungry so we took off for the last stop, a huge shopping center, where almost everyone bought some souvenir by which to remember a great day, and also we had time to sit down and relax to a meal provided by the Juniors. By 9:00 everyone was thoroughly exhausted but were they ready to go home? Not yet. The Juniors had rented the Four Seasons in Freeport. After taking a little nap on the buses we arrived at the bowling alley for three hours of bowling and billiards. A snack was served before going home and there also was a little unexpected entertainment to the enjoyment of all. Now it was time to head back to the River and no one had to be coaxed, for now everyone could go home and recall a day which probably will be remembered for the rest of their lives. 19
