It was a beautiful evening April 30, 1971 when the Juniors and Seniors of Leaf River High School and their dates assembled at The Silo on the Rock River in Oregon, Illinois for the annual Prom ban- quet. Everyone enjoyed the fine meal which in- cluded a choice of roast beef or ham, mashed potatoes, rolls, tossed salad, and for dessert, pie. Next, Randy Schelling, Junior Class President, wel- comed the seniors, and Kathy Wilson, Senior Class President, thanked the Juniors for what everyone hoped would be a delightful evening. Bill Hartje, toastmaster, then introduced Mr. Worth, guest speaker for the evening. Mr. Worth's talk was about Success and included many thought provoking comments and a few thought provoking jokes. 16

River Six Entertainment for the evening was provided by The River Six, a group of Junior girls, who captured everyone's attention with such numbers as Cherish and Bridge Over Troubled Water. This also was an opportunity for everyone to pass their Memory Books around the table for autographs. Everything had gone just as planned thus far and so Bill Hartje invited everyone back to the Bertolet Building in Leaf River for the Prom dance.
