Susan, our copy- editor, and Joy, our typist, worked togeth- er to complete write- ups. Angela, Ruth, Sandy, David, Darrell, Mike, and Bob worked hard on lay- outs in our new annual room. . . . The Leaflet It was write, rewrite, and make dummy sheets by the staff; finally the finished product--the LEAFLET! With the help of the book, The Do's and Don'ts of the Quill , we improved the quality of the LEAFLET. Our co-editors, Cherie Schulz and Ken Maxwell, as- signed articles and posted deadlines to get the staff on the move. A newspaper seminar was held on February 23 at the Faust Hotel in Rockford. The highlight of the day to our own staff was the awarding of Most Valuable Staffer to Cherie Schulz by the Rockford Newspapers. FRONT ROW: Co-editor, K. Maxwell; Editor, C. Spirit This year eight new amendments were added to the SOS constitution, indicating the growth of this active club. The most talked about amendment dealt with the required attendance except at eight games through- out the year. This lead to the choosing of an advisory board including representatives from each class, the three officers, and a member to represent the boys. At Homecoming the SOS carried out the traditional decoration of the goal posts and making a Cardinal effigy. For money-making projects the club sold mums at Homecoming and made booths for Spook Night in March. Cherie Schuz was chosen the new Demon Mascot and performed routines at home basketball games. This year the club presented a uniform appearance which gave a good impression of the school. At every game a large number of loyal fans came to cheer and frequent comments were made on the good school spirit shown. SOS set a new record in game attendance due largely to the fact that a spectator bus was taken to every game away from home and the addition of boys to the club. Never had we seen so much spirit aroused in our student body! O. L. CAPES Plumbing and Heating Leaf River, Illinois Compliments to the Class of 68 DEE DEE'S CAFE Leaf River 28
