The members spent five weeks (including Saturdays) constructing the darkroom. The sound of ham- mers and saws could be heard during class periods. It started with a newspaper seminar at the Faust Hotel in Rockford. There the staff learned how to improve their paper. A part of the seminar was devoted to constructive criticism. The staffs of the Rockford Newspapers gave speeches dealing with the different areas of a paper such as sports, clubs, and special activities. The staff returned home full of ideas to put into the paper. First they covered the sports events with accurate accounts and candid opinions. Full support was given to the various money-raising activities. Special recognition was awarded several individuals. As a final tribute to the sen- iors, the newspaper staff com- posed a senior portrait for each senior. The newspaper staff hopes that it has fulfilled its purpose to publicize all high school events. SUCCESS The 1964-1965 Demons had the best record that a Leaf River Varsity team has had since 1941, posting a 17-7 record. The highlight of the year came on January 25 when the Demons won the Rt. 72 Tournament by beating Forreston 69-67 in an overtime. In this game, the Demons fought back to overcome a four-point deficit in the final 30 seconds to tie the game. They they went on to win in the overtime. Earlier in the year the Demons defeated Forreston at Forreston. Leaf River finished second in the conference with a 9-3 record. The frosh-soph team had a rather dismal season with only one victory, yet still showed some promise for the future. In preparing for pep sessions, there is always the tedious task of deciding which yells to do and of preparing appropriate skits. Every Wednesday a bulletin board display is put up to get everyone in a winning spirit. Aside from all the work, there is always the fun of working together and learning new things which make up for all the work and effort. PECATONICA PRODUCE SUPPLY CO.
