Their only step from a perfect season was a 13-13 tie at the hands of Stillman. However, their spirit and skill, along with the guiding hand of Coach Bergner, gave them a season ending with a 14-13 win over Pecatonica and the right to that beautiful trophy which now sits in the Leaf River trophy case. The members of the class have given me and the en- tire faculty much pleasure and satisfaction, during your four years of high school. You have been a versatile class--combining scholarship, athletics, music, speech, drama- tics and courage to just the proper degree. I would like to leave you with this . . . You each have been given a bag of tools, a formless rock and book of rules; and each must make, ere life has flown, a stumbling-block or a stepping-stone. Sincerely, Robert H. Gourley
