956 On August 25, 1952, twenty-three ambitious freshman started four of their most memorable years at Leaf River High School. The following officers were elected: Wayne Schultz-------------------------- President Janet Hoffman -- ------------- vice President Sandra McKinley----------------Secretary-Treasurer June King - — --- ---------------Student Council Norman Templin — ------------ Student Council In 1953, our sophomore year, we ran the coat check at ball games as a means of making money. During the year we lost Barbara Nichols, Sheryl Schlafer, and Glenn Schnulle. We gained Aleta Goodwin, Ronnie Hundertmark, and Jerry Shoemaker. We elected the following officers to serve us this year: Jack Snyder - ------------------------- President Wayne Schultz ---------- — Vice President Sandra McKinley ------- - Secretary-Treasurer Janet Hoffman -- ------------ Student Council Norman Templin----------------- Student Council Mrs. Asbury - -- ------------------------ Advisor In 1954, our junior year, we sold popcorn and coke at the ball games. The Junior- Senior Prom was held in the Levin Faust room at the Hotel Faust in Rockford. During the year we lost Glen Allen, Richard Buss, Darlene Funk, Aleta Goodwin, June King, Donna Motter, and Jerry Shoemaker. We gained Don Myers, Sheryl Schlafer, and Clifford Borkgren. The following officers were elected: Wayne Schultz - Nancy Ackerman Janet Hoffman - Sharon Bocker - - Wayne Schultz - Miss Victor Mr. Frederick - ■ In 1955, our senior year, we sold hot dogs, coffee, and candy at the football games. We sponsored a Christmas Dance on December 17. We also had several small activities this year. We presented our class play January Thaw on April 13 and 14, 1956. PERSONAL BEQUESTS I, Wayne Schultz, do will my ability in sports to Clifford Craven, knowing that he will keep up the good work, I, Donna Snodgrass, do will my ability to roller-skate to Gary Mon, knowing that he will roll right along, I, Loretta Buskohl, do will my ability to play a clarinet to Pat Myers, knowing she has the wind to blow it. I, Ffiyllis Recoy, do will my ability to walk upright through a four foot door to John Groen. I, Sandra McKinley, do will my cheerleading ability to Ida Mae Borgman. I, Jan Hoffman, do will my ability to collect awards to LaVonne Burkhart. I, Sheryl Schlafer, do will my ability to be a chauffeur to a carload of girls to Roger Eisen. I, Wayne Bicksler, do will my Blue Streak to Dick Garrett, knowing that he can keep it in good running condition. I, Norman Templin, do will my ability to say the right things at the right times to Ronald Bocker, knowing he can put it to good use. I, Leonard Ontjes, do will my ability to get away with chewing gum to Jim Hamilton in hopes of saving his shoe leather that he wears off going to and from the waste basket with his cud. I, Nancy Newcomer, do will my ability to appreciate boys to Glenda Cheek. I, Jack Snyder, do will my ability to get along without pencil and paper for the entire length of my high school days to Larry Knodle. I, Junior Hunziker, do will my perfect flat top to Tom Jacobs, hoping to save a lot of wear and tear on the arm when pushing his hair out of his eyes. I, Sharon Bocker, do will my place on the honor roll to Judy Riley. I, Nancy Ackerman, do will my lack of interest in boys to Dana Satterfield.
