ln the last three games the Diggerw Seemed IU have hit a snag as they lost two and tied One. All aroused llot Springs eleven edged out a somewhat loggv Digger crew by the score of 1+-13. Un the fol- lowing Friday, the clash with Deadwood ended in failure for both teams, as the score read WU- lfff' Beckley. regular qt-,trterback, was carried off the field with a broken leg, XVay'ne Arnold, reserve halfbaeli. ran some oil yards for what looked to he a touchdown, but was stopped eleven yards from the goal. The Armistice day classic with Rapid City found a lighting but injury-marred Digger team go down in defeat Zo-U. as the Cohblers steam-rolled for the full sixty minutes with the Diggers finding no suitable defense. Three Digger players, Clyde Millett, Thomas Chapman and Robert Karinen, attained All Confer- ence rating. Coach Dunmire awarded 2+ letters. and nine lettermen will he lost by graduation. These are: Captain Thomas Chapman, Clyde Millett, joe Beckley. XVayne Arnold, Dale lleutzenroeder, Frank Hank, Lewis Dellinger, Robert Karinen and Arnold Nloellen- M --T g tlorf. By virtue nf this win and the pnwer displayed in winning, the iinlddiggers liegan tu lmik like potential cunferenre champiuns. The Diggers made their smashing ennferenee delmut by downing the Spearfish Spartans, 33-IP, nn the latter's tield. flyde Millett, l lilNT1j'T7lj1,1i'ffI'l51ll'li, sparked the game with several lung, lxruken-tield runs. The following twn weeks the Diggers performed on the home gridiron. as they downed the Belle Fuurehe and Sturgis elevens by scores of ll-U and 20-0 respectively. In the Belle Fuurehe game, Clyde Millett received a knee injury that kept him on the bench the remainder uf the season. Six days later the Diggers suffered their first defeat at the hands of non-conference Sheridan, XVyoming. as the final score read Sheridan 34, Lead 7.
