The nation has suffered the most severe depression of history. Millions have been in want in the midst of plenty, because of the greed and lust and weakness of those in places of commercial and industrial leadership. The worst of the depression appears to be over. A new day is breaking. To handle this new clay more wisely, more humanely, more in keeping with the principles of equal rights for all, we need the vigor and vision of youth. There have not been for many generations the opportunities for success and service that confront the youth of today who are about to step into places of command. C. VOIGT A. ZUHR Ant. Youth Must Choose Youth looks forward to, and must confront the problems of the future. Be- cause the problems are new, and because civilization has developed so many changes in the old standards of living, the youth of today is tempted to disregard all contributions of the past as outworn and useless equipage. But the past of two i thousand years ago contributed certain principles of ethics which have stood the test of time. A certain Jewish reformer named Paul wrote to his friends of Phillippi, Macedonia, on what to choose. We offer this advice to the youth of 1934 as a guide for today. Q'Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think of the-'59 things. MARGARET STABIO Secretary Nine
