FUTURE FARMERS PLOW ON As an intracurricular part of the agricultural department, the Future Farmers of America at LeRoy continued to grow in strength and quality in 1976-1977. Major money-making projects were the football concessions, seed sales, and the chapter farm. Chapter Front: Mitch members participated in Hafley, Jile the land-use contest, pub- Middle: Jile lie speaking, community Moss, Tooh service programs, leader- Hanafin. Ba ship training school, state Baker, Wool reporter's workshop, and Farm Bureau-FFA Acquaintance Day. Judging teams placed 9th in the state milk contest and 4th in Section 16 livestock judging. All participants received a 1st place in the Section 16 Ag-demonstrations contest. The chapter program of activities was considered for state recognition and the chapter was recognized at the National FFA Convention in Kansas City. The highlight of the year was attending a dinner with the 1977 National FFA officers. Seniors Show Off Their Ability!! Brian Woodrey won John Phillips Sousa award and the Art award. Kathy Belyea was the Math award winner, Mary Kay Goller the Science winner and Lisa Ritter the English award winner. Becky Wilkerson received the Home Ec award, Tim Marcum the DeKalb Ag award, and Patty Harpe-neau the Business award. Sherry Remington and Patty Harpeneau both won the attendance award--Sherry 4 yrs. perfect and Patty 3 yrs. perfect. Mary Kay Goller qualified for the National Merit Scholarship award. Rusty Dardano and Kathy Poindexter were named outstanding citizens with the DAR award. 25
