What are you doing?” “Come on boys, take him in.” The play, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, is about two sweet little old ladies who porson lonely, old men to put them out of their misery, and with the help of their nephew, (who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt), they bury the bodies in their basement. Their nephew, Mortimer Brewster, the only sane member of the family is torn between protecting his dear aunties and protecting society against them. “Bully, I shall prepare at once for the journey. “He’s so happy being Teddy Roosevelt.” 13 YEARBOOK STAFF ACTIVITIES—L to R: Missie Bock, co-ed, Nina Tucker and Suzanne Nice, co-ed. Julie Nice, Rusty Dardano, Mark Vickroy, and Kevin Spcalman took solos to contest. Dixie Wilson and Rick Henson played a clarinet duet. The trumpet duos were John Munster and Gene Bishop, Rusty Dardano and Tony Dardano, and Mark Vickroy and Kevin Spealman. The brass quintet consisted of Gene Bishop, Julie Nice, John Munster, Richard Munster, and Tom Belyea. Going to contest gives students the experience of playing and learning new ways to improve the sound of music. 19 SING AND BE MERRY Mixed chorus had a busy year. They participated in a “Singing Community” project with the Middle School music classes and chorus, Christmas concert, Spring concert, the musical, “Down in the Valley” and Baccalaureate. The Girls Ensemble attended the District Festival contest in April at ISU. Singing three selections, the group rated a First Division. Mark Vickroy and Sonya Scott sang solos in competition. Both received first ratings. Sonya Scott was selected from hundreds of auditioners over the State to be a member of the Illinois All-State Chorus at Arlington Heights in January. This is a coveted position and an honor for Sonya and the school. A “Full house” of Madrigal Singers (16) finished an interesting year. Highlights were the Christinas Madrigal Dinners (10th annual performance), assembly, contest (winning a First Division) and an appearance in the Spring Concert. The group also sang for several church and civic organizations. Not pictured is the Boys Quartet, consisting of R. Dardano, M. Vickroy, E. Bock, and D. Ethcrton. They rated a II in competition. 20 cn d o ffi o CHORUS—Row 1—(L to R) L. Small, V. Reynolds, S. Wright, K. Bruce, S. Scott, B. Oleson, N. Halm. Middle Row—P. Carter, J. Badger, S. Scott, S. Dean, J. Shirts and by being at the gpmes cheering them on. After four years of hard work, the Seniors spent six great days in Florida. They left on Friday May 23 and toured the old fort and old jail in St. Augustine, Ma-rineland, Cypress Gardens, Disney World and enjoyed a glass bottom boat and jungle cruise at Silver Springs. But the highlight of the trip was the two days at Daytona Beach which were filled with sun, sand and fun. THE 1975 FIGHTING BASEBALL PANTHERS Coach Freden As of this writing, the Panther baseballcrs have begun what is hoped will be a very successful season. Record to date: 3 wins 0 losses. So far, no team has scored on us and the J.V. team has even picked up a couple of well-earned victories. Nineteen-seventy five could be a good year due to the fact that there are eight returning senior lettermcn and the experienced coaching staff of Mr. Freden and Mr. Scnnctt to guide an otherwise young team. Our goal is simply to improve our 12-5 record of last year and thus have a shot at the S.V.C. title. With senior pitchers Myron Gross and Kevin Schultz, infielders Tony Dardano, Dave Carlson, and Harry Sutter and outfielders Greg Halm and Phil Frey, and Greg Hamblin this goal is within reach. With a few breaks and a lot of hustle I hope that L.H.S. next year will be wearing the S.V.C. crown. 54 Julie Epperson Wanita Schofield Linda Kline VARSITY 1,2,3,4,5 Mighty Panthers Don’t Take No Jive . .
