Their tremendous improvement over last year was outstanding, while the teamwork and great desire kept them in every ball game. This group of young men will move on to varsity competition knowing they can do the job. The Freshmen put together two victories while learning a lot of football. PANIUE Q mfe QJCCBCCFVL CEAQON The 1973-74 Panther Basketball season proved to be both exciting and successful in rolling up a 15 and 11 record. Our R.A.G. offense (run and gun) made us the highest scoring team in the area with a 79.9 average per game. Because of our lack of height, we had to press and trap, hoping to spread out our opponent’s strength under their basket. These tactics allowed us to set 6 offensive team records: most points scored in a season (2077), highest scoring average (79.9), most field goals attempted (1888), most field goals made (832), best field goal percentage (44), and most freethrows attempted (630). Many individuals had an outstanding year. Dave Halm was named first team all-conference and second team all-state. Myron Gross was given honorable mention on the all-conference team. Bruce Woodrey rewrote the record book for assists. Dave Halm and Bruce Woodrey were voted by their teammates as honorary captains. Fred Rusher was voted Most Improved Player, Bruce Woodrey the Freethrow Award, and Dave Halm the Most Valuable Player Award. Our future at Le Roy High School looks bright. We expect to be winners for at least the next five years. We have finally turned our losing ways around. Win, this is what we are going to do. It will take hard work and determination, but the price we pay now will be worth it later. 27
