With high goals, we had a winning season but finished in a disappointing third place in the Sangamon Valley Conference. The 1973 football team achieved a great deal. It established eight new team or individual records. One record for which we are most proud is fewest points allowed by the defense in nine scheduled games—52 points. In addition, we placed six players in seven first-team offensive or defensive positions on the all-conference football team. Our goal in 1974 is the continuation of defensive excellence and the development of a potent and exciting offense which will propel the Panthers to the top of the Sangamon Valley Conference for the first time since 1956. In a phrase, our goal is “More in 74.” ObCaptains fCeiikW'dgkb and ad ldo6iet 23
