The musical begins with the town crier, Mike Lindner, stating the situation. Then the plot develops. It seems the Burgomaster, Jerry Henson, wanted his daughter, Gretchen, Sonia Scott, to marry the governor, Mark Baker, but alas she loved a sailor, Hendrick, John Frey. How is this mess going to end up? It just so happens, that a couple of detectives, Sherlock Holmes, Mark Vickroy, and Dr. Watson, Eldon Bock, (alias Con Kidder and Kid Conner,) help to give a happy ending to a very sad beginning. Juliana, Julie Bock, the burgo master’s sister, just happened to meet the Governor first falling in love almost immediately, allowing Gretchen to marry Hendrick, Juliana is left to marry the governor. Jerry Henson, Eldon Bock, Mark Vickroy.
