They really DO know how to color! The class of ’74 is noted for their involvement in school activities, mainly athletics. Three-fourths of the boys in the class are involved in one of the four major sports. Many in our class involve themselves in music activities and other organizations. We are also noted for our class poet. How about it, Robert Carlson? At present the class is working on money making projects for their class trip coming up next year. They are well on their way toward this goal. Hmmm need of I think my coffin is in GRAVE repair. Relax and enjoy yourself in 7th hour creativity class. It’s strange. Venezuela has a population of 10 million people and Caracas, has 2 million people. I came to Lexington in the fall of’72 and I became a member of the Elmo Franklin family. As an AFS student, my experience in Lexington was, from the beginning, great. It was quite a change of life in a small town compared with the city I came from. The school was smaller too. I met a lot of people, and in class, I couldn’t understand what the teachers were talking about. Then 1 had the chance to know a little about this weird game that you call football. At first, I thought they were killing each other. But finally, I started to understand a little bit more about the American way of living .. . and customs, also, about my own. Trying to understand others was, at the same time, a way to understand myself and the reasons why we do things that could seem strange for others. When 1 go back home, I hope you will remember that Kid with the funny accent and with the broken arm. 1 promise I won’t forget any of you, either. Thank you, AFS Chapter, LCHS, my friends and my family for making this wonderful year possible. S' GUS REMEMBERS WC WONJDERFUL Coaching and class room teaching, for me, have been thirty years of enjoyment. What could be more gratifying than seeing young men develop their athletic abilities by hard work and sacrifice into smooth operating teams. Some were winning conference titles, county championships, district, regional, and sectional titles, and even playing in the State Finals, while others with lesser ability were winning contests by hard work and dedication alone. The most frustrating part of coaching or teaching has been to see young people dissipate their natural abilities and never reach their potential. I feel that 1 have been honored to be able to work with the young people and faculty of L.C.H.S. for the past twenty-five years. MR UVeRG OND UR TOWNER MAKE- PWNC FOR RETIREMENT When 1 came to Lexington twenty-seven short years ago, little did 1 realize that I would be content to remain for this period of time. The growing school, the challenges the school presented, the cooperation from everyone and the many opportunities for my family helped us to realize that this was an ideal place to live and work. We have never regretted our decision. I am proud of the Lexington Schools. I feel that I am fortunate in having had the opportunity to be a part of this school system. With everyone’s continued support and cooperation Lexington will always have good schools. In closing, may I paraphrase General Douglas Mac Arthur? Old superintendents never die, they don’t even fade away, they just lose their faculties. SENIORS VOTE TO DEDICATE YEARBOOfcTO URS. BERRY SWINGIN' SAFARI On Friday, th. On Friday, November 17 they presented this play. The main theme revolved around an unromantic newspaper reporter—Scoop Cramer. Unfortunately, Marsha Davis, his starry-eyed girl friend failed to see that Scoop wanted no part of any kind of woman. The Senior class election proved to be very complicated and simply a popularity contest between a flirty female, a hardworking student, and a “Big Man on Campus”. They provided the usual services of sponsoring a coat check at basketball games, handling concession sales at noon, and sponsoring Homecoming, but also did some new things. The Council worked on a scholastic program for a pass-fail option and also provided the money for new Midstate Conference pennants for the gym. LAST SEEN IN VICINITY OF THE PONTIAC PCN. FROU TUB SPONSOR’S DBOC Each generation cherishes those moments and memories that it played a part in creating. We tried to develop through our theme “Do you Remember These” a central truth in life that each generation is similar to every other. Our theme song on pages two and three brings back memories for those of us who were a part of the 1950’s. For us those years are nostalgia. For you who are teenagers today they are merely history. But the things you have done in the culture of the 1970’s will be nostalgia for you by the 1980’s. So remember that no matter what generation you were born into all that you do is life—“Yours to enjoy, to create, to learn each in your own way. And what is life? Times, places, people that you can learn from over and over again. They’re valuable . . . they’re yours . . . and we’re happy that we can help you celebrate them . . . for the rest of your life through the pages of the 1972-73 Minutemen Yearbook. OHJ CasoaiJLcrus FRW 7WE EDfTOR S U££K . . What is a yearbook? At a glance it appears just as an uninteresting conglomeration of paper and words. But that paper and those words have been our attempt to recreate the happenings of the past school year. Even though the yearbook staff has hardly begun to record everything that has happened, this book can be the means by which YOU can remember all the activities which are now but a part of history. The record football season, the pressures of everyday school life, the fun of a pie throwing duel, and the excitement of Seniors ready to graduate. Those are your memories to keep and treasure. I would also like to thank our sponsor Mr. Cavallini, Gina Richard, Bill Mullins, and all the people of the staff who gave up so much of their time to bring back the past for you to relive and to enjoy. fijoAJ 4h ?25 120 m w -i ....
