CLASS HISTORY Of the n1neteen graduatmg Sen1ors of the class of 1959 f1ve of them have gone through the twelve years of school together They are Paula Sue Meats Lowell Graham R1chard Dav1s James Br1nk and Bruce Welsh We entered L H S as Freshmen 1n the fall of 1955 The members of our Freshman class were as follows Presldent Melvm Ratz V1ce Pres1dent Sharon Storrer Secretary and Treas urer D1etr1cha Mltchell James Br1nk Larry Brutchm Sherry Crotts R1chard Dav1s D1ck Dear1nger Eugene Gehrke Lowell Graham Dale Harshberger Larry Hess Jud1th Houston Martha Hutchms Raymond Klaus James Lake Lawrence Lynn Paula Meats Nancy Noble LaVerne Ohmle Larry Storrer and Bruce Welsh In1t1at1on by the Sen1ors was the mam event of the year Eleven boys part1c1pated 1n ath 1et1cs Our sponsor was Mrs Young In the fall of 1956 we entered L H S as Sophomores w1th twenty three enrolled havmg gamed Syb1l Barrett and Denn1s Dewey and losmg Dletrlcha M1tchell We lost D1ck Dearmger Eugene Gehrke Dale Harshberger and Denn1s Dewey IH the flrst semester 'Class off1cers elected were Pres1dent James Br1nk V1ce Pres1dent Rlchard Dav1s Treasurer James Lake and Secretary Sharon Storrer We had the honor of servmg the Jumor Sen1or Banquet We had a ch1l1 supper and food sale dur1ng the year M1ss Austm was our sponsor Nme boys part1c1pated 1n athlet1cs We entered h1gh school as Junlors IH 1957 w1th an enrollment of twenty one hav1ng ga1n ed D1etr1cha M1tchell and Dahlla McCullough Durmg the f1rst semester we galned Ger1 Jordan and lost Nancy Noble and Lawrence Lynn Class off1cers elected were Pres1dent R1chard Dav1s V1ce Pres1dent Paula Sue Meats Secretary D1etr1cha M1tchell and Treasurer Melv1n Ratz Student Counc1l members were Sherry Crotts and James Lake Our Jun1or play Amer1can Boy and our Jumor Sen1or Banquet The Gay N1net1es were outstandlng events of the year We ordered our class r1ngs the f1rst of the year Our sponsors were M1ss Austm and Mr D1xon Seven boys part1c1pated 1n athlet1cs As we entered our f1nal year 1n L R H S we had an enrollment of nlneteen Class off1cers elected were Pres1dent Sharon Storrer V1ce Pres1dent Larry Brutchm Secretary Melvm Ratz and Treasurer James Br1nk Student Counc1l members were Jud1th Houston and James Br1nk James Lake was elected Pres1dent of the Student Counc1l H1ghl1ghts of our fmal year were the Sen1or play Home Sweet Hom1c1de our Sen1or p1ctures were taken our football and basketball teams went through the1r regular seasons w1thout a defeat or t1e We were guests at the Jumor Sen1or Banquet and Prom Song 1n My Heart ' The fol lowlng morn1ng we left for Osage Beach MISSOUPI on our Sen1or sneak Baccalaureate was held at the hlgh school on May 17 w1th Rev Bradbury as the speaker Class mght took place 1n the h1gh school aud1tor1um on May 18 cons1st1ng of the pre Sentat1on of awards and the readmg of the class h1story w1ll and prophecy Commencement exerclses were held for the class of 1959 1n the school audltorlum on May 21 The speaker was Rev StephenW1ll1ams of Empor1a After Rev W1ll1ams had delwered h1s 1nsp1r1ng talk we rece1ved our d1plomas whxch concluded our br11l1ant hlgh school career at L R H S 1 ' - 1 1 - 1 1 - 1 1 ' 1 - 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - . . .
