QENTRA - fs K J zg QSAPIENTU-X Q NOSTRA ' ln lhe fall of l95l, when lhe school emblem and nickname were being chosen, rhe idea of designing a school insignia was proposed 'ro Siudenf such lhings as sweaishirls, sweafers, awards, and on 'rickefs fo various school aciivilies. The insignia adopied, which was designed by Mr. Joseph lanifa and Mr. John Jenner, consisis of four symbols: 'rhe lamp of learning, which represenis ihe school curriculum and scholarship: lhe lyre, symboliz- ing music: ihe winged fool, depiciing a+hle+ics, and lhe scroll, fypifying exfra-curricular acfiviiies. Below These four symbols is prinied fhe word Sapien+ia a Lafin word, If If Always Our 1565! . ,L -Z 0 . . . . . . . . A+ a public Siudeni Council meefing in l95l, affer long deliberalion 'rhe official school emblem and nickname were adopied. The emblem choi sen was a commercially drawn symbol, characferizing slrenglh and cour- age by a knighl in armor, mounied on horseback, embroidered in black on a red background.
