Choosing The Theme Tor The I967 O-AT- KAN was an exTremely diTTiculT Task. lT re- quired deep ThoughT and concenTraTion from each sTaTT member and demanded ThaT They examine our school closely. l..H.S., we Tound. is noT merely a building or a succession of classes and acTiviTies. buT is. insTead. a living enTiTy wiTh a characTer all iTs own. lTs characTer is defined by The various moods and emoTions ThaT encompass The enTire sTudenT body during The school year. IT was These moods which we wished To capTure and parallel wiThin our Theme. and aTTer many hours of worlc, we feel we have succeeded. The Theme oT The 1967 O-AT- KAN is The sea and iTs moods . NoThing else on earTh encompasses more moods or emoTions Than The sea. NoThing else is as sure and un- changing.
