The 1962 O-AT-KAN will carry you on a journey through old Baghdad and show you our favorite genie at work, at play, and at his best - - working for those about him. He lives in an imaginary world, but we are able to appreciate his contributions. XVith the current problems facing us all in the community, the nation, and the world, it is good to dwell for a few moments on the fantasy en- richment of genie As Seniors, we are now more appreciative of the help and guidance which we have received from our fellow students. teachers, and members of the adminis- trative staff XYe wish to offer our thanks to those who have helped us gain our present status. May this O-AT-KAN carry us into the future with fondest memories of years gone by. XYe are proud that our class has contributed toward building a heritage for our successors. They were: president, -lerry Seeleyg vice president. john Thorneg secretary, Marcia Dickensong and treasurer, Bonnie Bradbury. Their leadership, along with the patience and effort of our advisors: Mr. Lane, Mr. Cahill. and Mrs. l-eanen, and the guidance given us by Mr. Mullet and Miss Suttell, helped bring about a successful- rewarding year. Our first activity was the management of the football refreshment stand, where we worked hard selling pizza, hot dogs, pop, and coffee to the spectators. Following this the seniors cooperated to bring about a successful annual spaghetti supper. This was the result of careful planning and doing chores which turned out to be more fun than work. Our next activity was decorating the Christmas tree in front of the school. ln order to raise funds for our end-of-the-year ac- riviiies we sponsored a dance. an open skating party, a bake food sale and put on s -20- Senior Class Ufficers as in s t sm. hmmm. Soon after the ball we took our senior trip. The day was spent exploring Crystal Beach and buying crazy hats. XYe also visited Niagara Falls and rode on the Maid of the Mist. ln the evening we headed for the Statler Hotel in Buffalo for dinner and an evening of dancing. At the end of the evening, tired, but happy, we headed back to Le Roy- each with his own memories of a zvonderful trip. The end of the year went fast for us. After regents week came Class night, Baccalaureate, and Graduation night when together we entered l..e Roy as students for the last time and left to go our separate ways in the world. -31- 53279 J. YACHETT -A m , Senior Saga To tell the story of thirteen years of school on five pages is relatively impossible. How- ever, through the means of pic- tures, we shall attempt our nsagain Like all children, we had our likes and dislikes. Marcia preferred her bathinette, while Dick liked the outdoors. Donna had her balloon, Ani, a lake, Donna Lee, the library steps, and Linda, her pushcart. The one and only Jerry Seeley was trying to see if he could get his foot into his mouth, Donna Jeary was all formal smiles for the camera, Sue Dewey modeled the latest fash- ions in her backyard, while Dot relaxed in the shade. Jcanny pouted while Karen was swinging, and Marilyn dragged around when June was enjoying the Howers in her front yard. We were of assort- ed shapes and sizes, but we were all lovable babies for the first three years or so. But as time marched on .,,... ...... ,......... . . -- 37- . . . . We began growing up into little people. We were curious and tried to be helpful and loving, and our parents couldn't help but appreciate our efforts. A good cross-sec- tion of those bo-rn in 1944 are shown here. Donna Thomas was blondie, Joan had a doll and a cute hat, Thorney loved his kitten, and Dorothy slept. Jack and his friend picked dandelions for Mama, while Deb pedaled the drive-way. Kathy and her doll should have been cover girls, while the Shepards' played together, hand in hand. John and Shir- ley had their lirst Communion, Jerry was also hotrodding on a trike, Sharon and her doll were inseparable, and Carol and Jan were the best of friends. Jake posed casually and won all beauty contests for his sweet smile. -33- f If We were all easily recogniz- able from our present charac- teristics. Parties became the rage and Mom would cele- brate one in our honor at the drop of a hat. Joan had quite a crowd for a particular Birth- day Party held at her home in Stafford. You probably recog- nize Deb, Dot, J o-Ann, Karen, J a n e t t e, Carole, Nlartha, Corny, Linda-Kay and Sandy. Dick was already pulling on a Panatella, while at 8 Craigie, the Boys were doing a little celebrating. Carol helped at home.. The Class snow sculp- turing contest one year was extremely blessed with talent, and our model Dog is shown to prove it. Notice the hard- workers . . . Charlie, Geoff, Ginger, Dorth, Allen, Bonnie, Jan, Martha, John and Jerry. And speaking of our Presi- dent, where have you ever seen a classier picture of any- one? And then Dorothy en- tertained the girls at a little get-together. Socially, we were an entertaining and enjoyable class, but other interests be- gan iniluencing our behavior. -39- 4 vw '4. i.. ,Nfl alfa,-,,, ,. ..,., -U ,.,4,.a,, ,, 4 1.44 5 ,f is I I 2 D M' ff Q i LM 14 ff, 2 ,W , ,, ' f af f l .- ' V M f ' ' M 17 f ' ,,.,,.,. Gerry and Shirley look about the same, but notice the parties again. First we see Joan's pa- jama party, and then a birth- day party. Other photos are from class assemblies and a sixth grade breakfast party. For a change, we began Work- ing together. Boys and girls organized and carried out our assemblies. We had class meetings and elections. The high school was no longer fear- ed because we were now a part of it. Homework and other factors entered into the picture, but for effort, we found accomplishment. It was worth it! .- .45 ...- J Into Senior High with all of its activity, rush, worry, and anticipation. Waiting for the Spaghetti Supper, waiting for the Senior Play, waiting for the Operetta, and on and on . . . At a special school spirit rally. the Senior Boys disp'ay- ed their cheering talents in faily colored MuuMuus. Deb had a few parties, Sue came back to us from overseas, Helle and June became ever- lasting friends, and the boys displayed their good sports- manship in Assembly. Dave had his hair curled for fun and an unidentified girl Ccould her initials be J.C.R.D 'made an in- teresting face. Donna and Larry crowned the King and Queen at our Junior Prom. George and Linda reigned as King and Queen of our class for that year. And so we have shown you a brief picture of our lives in Le Roy, and our school life. It has been great fun to know and be friends with those stu- dents who have always been close to us. We also had an All Class assembly introduced these fine singers Star basketball team consisting of seventh and eighth grade boys. They were cheered along by our faithful eighth grade cheerleaders. Many of our class members participated in the science fair where we won some ribbons. For the most part we feel we have experienced a very successful year which we will never forget. Composed of fifth and sixth graders, its primary purpose is to teach them the basics of music. The highlights of the year are the Christmas Concert and the Spring Concert in which this chorus plays an important role. Tryouts for admittance to this group are held in the music classes and membership is kept down to approximately seventy. s -62.- ..... Under the able direction of Mr. Lane they met twice a week during the school year to practice music for their many activities. Highlights of the mixed chorus year were the very successful production of the musical, Brigadoon, and the Christmas and Spring Concerts. The chorus also performed for the Le Roy Rotary Club and Class Night. This choral group is a select group of singers, chosen by try- outs in the spring ot the preceding year. Class instruction in voice training is given to all chorus members as a regular part of their training. Any student participating four or more days a week may earn one full hour of credit. The memorization of music, and out- side reading and listening is required to obtain full credit. NNW 4: J. I'IillLlilfiYll, S. Ciuirzittzi, K. NV1'igl1t, M. Dickinson, XV. BIIICCOXVQIH, F. The condition was that if Le Roy proved capable of keeping up with this fast competition, they could become an official member the following year. As is well known by now, Le Roy proved to be more than equal to this task. During the hrst half of the season, the powerful Knights combined determination and teamwork with the deadly shooting of Tim Mcfully and Ben XYrifrht t N 'l g o tompi e an outstanding record. The second half of the season was equally as good which made our total record eleven wins and five losses. This entitled the team to play Painted Post for the opportunity of playing for the division Champion- ship, but the Knights lost in a hard fought contest at Geneseo. The Hnal record for the season was four wins and eight defeats, but the outlook for 1962 is very good, as only four players were lost due to graduation. The brightest star in the 1961 Le Roy lineup was Carl Hyde, the stalwart pitcher who is presently a member of the Detroit Tiger Organization. Carl also led the Knights in hitting with a .411 average. Others who distinguished themselves in their final year for the Le Roy nine were Dan Rudgersy Jack Seekins, and joe Calourie. Mighty Men Laughing Basemen L' . 11' f.u- in M i n g.
