The Muscle Department MRS. JAY MR. JAY MR. LONGHINI MISS DOUGAN Physical Education MRS. IA Y Mrs. Ruth -lay is the girls' physical education instructor at the XVolcott Street School, and lceeps herself occupied directing the physical activity of the younger girls. She attended Rroclcport State Teachers' College where she was awarded the Bachelor of Science degree. She has been with us for two years. having previously taught at lrondequoit. Mrs. -lay has made lasting friend- ships among the students here and many will miss her when she leaves teaching this year. MR. JAY Our director of boys' physical education, Mr. Raymond lay. has been teaching here for two years. Mr. lay graduated from Franklin 'High School in Rochester. lfle attended Broclfport State Teachers, College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in l949. lile then at- tended lthaca College where he received his M. S. in health and physical education. Mr. lay is also an advisor of the Boys' .Nthletic Association. and coach ot' the varsity basketball and varsity base- ball teams. MR. LONGHIN1 Mr. Francis Longhini, who has been boys' physical education teacher in Le Roy since 1951, was born here in Le Roy and graduated from Le- Roy l-ligh School in 1944. He attended Brock- port State Teachers' College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He recently re- ceived his Master's degree at lndiana University. Mr. Longhini not only instructs the physical edu- cation classes. but also ably coaches junior varsity baseball and assists in coaching the varsity foot- ball squad. MISS DOUGAN Miss Dorothy Dougan has been director of the girls' physical education department at l,e Roy lligh School since 1949. She graduated from Kenmore High School, Kenmore, New York. She attended the University oi Buffalo where she received her U. of Ed. Later she received her Master's at Brockport State Teachers' College. Miss Dougan's duties include helping with cheer- leading and supervising the after school intra- mural program which consists of girls bowling, golf, and tennis.

Miss Smith's place of business is in the XX'ol- cott Street School where she can lietter lqeep an eye on the accident-prone grade schoolers. llere she assists the school physician in giving physical exams. and innoculations.. ln addition she per- forms the ordinary tirst aid tasks that are the lot of a school nurse. The school physician is chosen from antong the village physicians on a rotating basis. 'llo Dr. limit liimaid has fallen this special task ot' guard- ing our health this year, although many of the other doctors have contributed their time and talents.
