Dramatics Club You hardly hear a word about the miners without hearing about the glam- our girls and boys who provided them with their theatrical entertainment. Although we here at LHS have theatrical entertainment of a somewhat different type, it is nevertheless centered around the doings of the Dramatics Club which is under the direction of Mr. McRoberts and Miss Smith. This year some of its members put on the play Three's a Crowd. Both performances were acclaimed huge successes. During the year the Dramatics Club has sponsored two theater trips. Last Fall a large number saw the Margaret XYebster production of MacBeth at Geneseo, During the winter a group also saw a New York troupe do High Button Shoes at the Auditorium at Rochester. Yes, many gold nuggets of culture certainly have been found by those students who have participated in this club's activities. -. 29 1 g X rs:

S- '1'11lw1le- A- Pllffdglill- Senior Play I'm not exactly sure what kind of drama the miners of a hundred years ago had. but it seems to me they had a leading lady by the name of Lillian Russell. They had nothing on us of the 20th ce-nturv, though . 6 ' because we have Nancy -Iones who played the part of Emily. the leading lady in Thornton XYilder's prize-winning play, Our Town . There were very few people who did not go out of the auditorium rather blurry eyed after seeing her in the very moving third act. Bob johnson, the Stage Mana0'er . also did a su erb 'ob. He gave to the audience ei b P .l e, in a very hne way some serious thoughts that they will not soon forget. Excellent performances were given by Don Cromwell as George Gibbs, Burton Spiller and Joyce Mooney as Dr. and Mrs Gibbs and by Don Mancuso and D, Clark who played Dr. and Mrs. llfebb. i For humor Mr. Xliilder added Mrs. Somes tBernice was never to be forgotten for her comments on what a lovely wedding it was, Then too there was Rebecca and her fondness for Seldenl who money. Yes, there were these and many others too numerous to mention. This wonderful play put on by the -19ers of LHS was the huge success that it was because of the superb directing done by Mr. Mc- Roberts, To him go the thanks of the entire cast and class of '49. 0 -- -ill 30 Pie-- f f :un mum mm nu mn un umm mm mm: num mmm nmmmn nn nnunum- I, , ..
