In 1968, Le Moyne came up with a mod- erately successful track team. Although weak in sprints and field events, the squad was strong in the distance and middle distance events. Le Moyne displayed two of the state's premier high jumpers in Brian Hoery and Bob Somelofske. The team was at its best in the season's opener at Cornell. Two Le Moyne school records were broken as the Dolphins held their own with such perennial track pow- ers as Syracuse, Rochester and Cornell. The two mile relay team, composed of Wiberly, Sylvester, Wright and Curtin, Perfect form. 190 Buhl, Pedrick, Neary broke the indoor record with a time of 8:07.6. Brian Hoery set another record in winning the high jump at 6'4M, . Mickey Buhl finished a strong third in the mile as did Ed Garrett in the 1,000 yards. At the Rochester relays, Le Moyne tied for fourth with Brockport as Rochester and Alfred tied for the top spot. With

Buhl replacing the injured Steve Wiberly, the two mile relay team led the way with a convincing victory. Hoery and Some- lofske finished second and third respective- ly in the high jump. A week later, at the Rochester Invita- tional, Hoery and Somelofske turned in exceptional performance. Hoery won the high jump and scored a surprising second in the mile. Somelofske gave support with a third in the high jump and a fourth in the hurdles. At Cortland, both Colgate and Cortland took the steam out of the Dolphin track machine. Hoery, Le Moyne's most versatile performer, was hampered by a cold and a leg injury. Somelofske, however, won the high jump with a personal high of 6'1 . Jim Sylvester excelled in finishing third in the 1,000 yards and in pacing the two mile relay team.
