I Si KI Is he trying to fly? ,if Skiing downhill is much easier. 186 Indoor ski workouts began as early as November. Poor weather conditions de- layed outdoor practice sessions. It was felt that the skiers were not in top form for the first meet. As a result, Le Moyne passed up its customary appearance at the Army ski meet. The joint sponsored Le Moyne-SU meet held at Labrador proved to be the skiers' first competition. The seasoned opposition took the measure of Le Moyne in its own meet as the Dolphins finished eighth out of ten teams entered. At Cortland, the following weekend, the skiers proved their ability. Le Moyne finished a strong sixth out of twelve en- trants. Such teams as Utica, Rochester, and Colgate fell to the Dolphins. Journeying to Paul Smith's, the Dol- phins continued to improve as all facets of the team, especially the jumping, sparkled. Le Moyne placed fifth out of an eleven team field. At Paul Smith's, the skiers avenged an earlier defeat at the hands of Army's cadets. The 1968 team was paced by junior co- Dr. Hanley supervises preparations. B l H lr I

Co-captain, Dave Sunderhaft, Dom DeAngelo, George Miller, Les Lohmann, and Steve Water- man composed the remainder of the alpine team. Lohmann and Gene Czajkowski proved to be the strong men in cross country., They drew support from Mick Henson, Bill Carr, Jerry Fralick and Don Boardman. Le Moyne presented its best jumping team in 1968. Much of the team's overall success can be credited to the improvement of the jumpers. Risking their necks in this manner were a quartet of daredevils in- cluding Burke, Sunderhaft, Czajkowski, and Boardman. Within the past few years, skiing has developed into a major sport at Le Moyne. The skiers are deeply indebted to those behind the scenes, Fr. Monan, Dr. Hanley, and Coach john Malagisi for their contri- bution to skiing's success on the Heights.
