COU TRY Travelling to Oswego, the harriers recorded a perfect score, 15-50, as eleven Dolphins crossed the finish line ahead of the first Laker. At Ithaca, Le Moyne lost a heartbreaker, 27-29, to highly-rated Cornell. The Dolphins bounced back with convincing wins over Oneonta, U.B., Potsdam, and RIT. Journeying to Buffalo, Le Moyne faced some of the outstand- ing runners in the East in the Canisius Invitational. The harriers finished fifth out of twenty-one teams. On November 4, the Heights became the center of atten- tion for the entire state as Le Moyne hosted the N.Y.S. Championship Cross Country Run. The Dolphins recorded their best showing since Le Moyne joined the State Conference six years ago. Only Buffalo State finished ahead of the Heightsmen as both teams dethroned five-time champion Ro- berts Wesleyan. Le Moyne's outstanding performers included john Snyder Terry Reilly 165 Horey Uthj, Snyder flithj, Petraglia f19thj, Joe Wargo f23rdj and Ed Garrett f31stj. Le Moyne closed out the regular season bowing to a pow- erful Colgate squad as Brian Horey again paced all finishers. Le Moyne sent a full five man team to the IC4A meet in New York City. CROSS Nineteen Sixty-Seven was a year of innovations in cross country. The new look included first-year coach, Dick Rock- well, plus a rugged, new 5.2 mile course. Also in '67 the N.Y.S. Championship Cross Country Run was held at Le Moyne for the first time. Designed by Robert O. Brennan, SJ., the new course was one of the longest and hilliest in the area. Coach Rockwell's conditioning program, a crew of dedi- cated upperclassmen plus two talented freshmen combined to produce a highly successful season. The campaign opened on a sour note as the Dolphins lost to Army and Farleigh Dicken- son at West Point. In their second outing, with Brian Horey shattering the course record, the harriers won handily over St. John Fisher. At Hartwick, the Warriors fell to the Dol- phins for the first time in seven years. The nineteenth annual Le Moyne Invitational was held on October 7.
