The Le Moyne College linksmen last year and this fall have proved themselves to be among the top golf squads in the east. Last year the Dolphins were unbeaten against collegiate competition although they did suffer two losses against the ever powerful Sampson Air Force Base team. In the Fall of 1955 the Green and Gold golfers bested all the members of the M. E. C. C. A. in the first annual medal tournament. Henry Hoffman was the top man in the tourney and took medal honors with a score of 76. Siena played host for the match which included such schools as St. Bona-venture, St. Francis, Iona, and St. Peter's. The Dolphins are ably captained by Gus McNamara and find their best golfer in the person of john Bednarski who averages in the low 70's. Barry Fisher adds additional strength to the squad with an average of 78. The return of Dick Walser to the squad this season will aid con- siderably since he is regarded as the top young golfer in this area. Tom Phillips fires for I-learts ' With the completion of the football playoffs, I-Mural activity turned to basketball. This year the league was composed of two conferences, the Green having six teams and the Gold having seven .Play began early in December and was scheduled to last until the middle of March. There were several veteran squads and these dominated the play to a great extent. The Le Moyne A. C., Rigor Mortis, and Happy Hearts were the top squads in the Green Conference while DeBalla's Dumplings and the Basket- hangers were the pacemakers in the Gold division. The leading scorers in the league were Letty Erwin, Bill,Farley and Tom Phillips. All-Star selections included Pete Del Giorno and Phillips at guards, Phil Hensberry at center and john Bednarski and jimmy Miller at forwards. These men were hard pressed for positions by such cagers as john Young, Dick Busching, jack Merrill and Ron Schultz. ln addition to basketball, the I-Mural program included for the first time this year a Volleyball tournament. Teams composed of six members fought against each other in the Fastbreak in I-Mural contest Look, a flying saucer A Start of I-Mural run . double elimination affair.
