Bergen soars in loss to jaspers Cortland Home Win Avenging an earlier loss, the Le Moyne Dolphins showed fine form and soundly whipped Cortland State Teacher's College by a score of 73 to 58. The game saw the Green and Gold take an early lead and maintain their margin through- out the contest even though the Dragons did threaten on several occasions. The game also marked the new school scoring record as Dick Kenyon dropped a free throw in with ten minutes gone in the first half thereby breaking Don Savage's six year old mark. Le Moyne held a 42-55 margin at half-time and through the efforts of Len Mowins, Bob Dietz and Kenyon were able to increase their lead in the second stanza. Top scorer for the Dolphins was Kenyon as the slender senior netted 22 points. He was followed by Bob Dietz who accounted for 16 points of the Le Moyne total. Cortland was paced by Frank Dawson who netted 17 markers. 49 'f'1.I' 1 1 ' . T lil, ' 'i I- 1, i Ml . 1 xr .4 Y ':: TE? ' .1 - F. V:f:: i f T f M ttiotu , 1 Q . Bowing out of the Dolphin lineup for the last time were five seniors, Kenyon, Dietz, Mowins, Phillips and Spaulding. Dietz and Kenyon took with them almost every individual scoring record in Le Moyne history. Le Moyne seemed to do everything right as they rolled to sizeable margins throughout the contest. The Dolphins moved into the lead after ten minutes had elapsed and were never in danger of losing their victory. Using their superior rebound' ing strength with great effectiveness, the Nilandmen ran the visitors into the floor. Siena tried to stop the Dolphins with both a zone and manrto-man defense but found their efforts of little use. Dietz and Kenyon marked the end of their careers by leading the scoring parade. Dietz, who broke Bill jenkins three year scoring mark, led the winners with 29 points. Kenyon said farewell with a 20 point outburst. . 1 Dietz gets a boost from Crough

5 Hobart Away Win The Le Moyne College Dolphins showed mighty second half form as they erased a six point margin and came from behind to defeat stubborn Hobart 78 to 63 before a jammed DeSalles High School crowd. The victory avenged last year's upset win by the Statesmen. The Dolphins were baffled by a collapsing zone which the home squad used with much effectiveness and found themselves on the short end of a 57-31 half-time score. Paced by Dick Kenyon, the Green and Gold moved to a slim lead in the open- ing minutes of the second stanza and forced the opposition to abandon their defensive tactics. The Dolphins then scored with comparative ease and garnished the victory. Top scorer for Le Moyne was Dick Kenyon who netted 23 points, 16 of them in the last half. Bob Dietz was very effective from the foul line and ended up with 21. Bill Phillips continued to impress as he kept the Dolphins alive in the first half and totaled 17. For Hobart, Wiesglass scored 17 and Lambert had 18. -it -. Iona Home Win 1 Showing their best home form of the season, the Le Moyne Dolphins defeated a much improved Iona quintetby a score of 90 to 82 before a slim Memorial crowd. The victory was the second of the season for the Dolphins over the Gaels. The squads met previously in the Quantico Tourney with the Dolphins taking an easy win. The Dolphins opened with a sensational brand of shooting and moved to a 20 to 5 lead after eight minutes had elapsed. However the joy ride was short-lived as the visitors began to hit consistently and narrowed the gap to 48445 at halftime. In the last half the Dolphins and Gaels fought on even terms with the score being knotted on several occasions. Le Moyne pushed ahead in the last few minutes and then froze the ball to insure the victory. Le Moyne was led by Bo'b Dietz who hit with great accuracy and notched 25 points. Dick Kenyon continued his march on the scoring record and hit for 23 points. Iona was led by Saverese who had 213. Smo feeds Mow Gannon College Away XVin In a raggedly played game that saw Le Moyne's basketeers lose a thirteen point lead with but seven minutes to go and be forced into an overtime before taking the victory, Gannon Col- lege of Erie, Pennsylvania was defeated 90 to 82 before a large crowd at the Buffalo Auditorium. Le Moyne seemed to be coasting along in fine fashion for the greater portion of the contest but fell apart in the late stages to allow their rivals to tie the game up. In the extra period, Bob Dietz and Len Mowins hit for several baskets allowing the Dolphins to grab the win. Dietz and Kenyon again led the scorers with 24 and 25 points respectively. Dietz, scoring well in the overtime was a big factor in the Green and Gold triumph. Kenyon's point production put him within 21 of the Le Moyne scoring record. Showing far greater ability but a lack of cohesiveness. the Dolphins again won on a had night. Bob Vischinsky was high for the losers, hitting for 24 points. Kenyon gets fouled, but scores St. Bonaventure Home Loss Meeting one of the sharpest' looking quintets to invade the War! Memorial this season, the Le Moyne Dolphins were completely outclassed and suffered an 81 to 61 beating at the hands of the St. Bonaventure Indians. The largest crowd of the season, numbering 4500, saw the visitors take complete control in the early portions of the contest and score almost at will and with amazing accuracy. In the opening stages of the game the Indians moved to a sizeable lead by virtue of their excellent passing and rebounding. Particularly effective were Gerry Schlee and Brendan McCann as they scored frequently. The Dolphins couldn't seem to match the fast moving Bonnies and found themselves on the short end of a -46-23 halftime score. The story was much the same in the second stanza although the Indians were stopped from increasing their lead. Top man for St. Bonaventure was McCann as he hit for 19 points and had a great many assists. He was followed by Schlee who netted 16. Le Moyne was paced by Dick Kenyon and Dan Cavellier, each having 16 points.
