-1-'- Altus 'I4 Lawton 6 Lawton found themselves behind I4-6 in the fourth quarter. lt was then that the Wolverine spirit began to show. BALL El Reno 0 Lawton 27 Lawton managed a very slim 6-0 lead over the Indians during the first half, during which there was no spectacular play on the part of either team. The second half was one of an ex- plosive exhibition of defensive and offensive team play by Lawton. The Wolverines physical stamina wore the Indians to a point of slight resistance against a full steamed Wolverine gang. Duncan 6 Lawton 6 This game was to decide the Boomer Conference Champs. Law- ton had come a long way to win this one. The contest held a high pitch in every corner, Lawton managed a touchdown minus con- version points. --f---A- . M. ..Y...Y. Y , .,., A, Frederick 20 Lawton 8 The Wolverines emerged from their lair on the night of September 13, 1958, ready for the Frederick Bombers. The second half brought Lawton on the field to drive successfully twice. This brought the score to 14-6 Lawton. Thps Lawton defeated Norman and became the number one team in the Boomer Conference. As always Law- ton's second half was one of team unity and hard play with the fuel of determination which is present in all Lawton teams. Through all this effort and drive, Lawton saw a clear field to victory. Enid 14 Lawton 42 Hoping to extend their number of victories to 8, Lawton journeyed to Enid. The Wolverines were too much for the Plainsmen. Enid could not hold back Lawton's power and Lawton forged ahead early in the game.
